The Charity is governed by an Approved Goveming Dwjment. Members of the Church are
ac￿pted in accordan￿ with the Constitution which requires them to be or to have been
publicly baptised on the profession of far(h in Jesus Christ. or following other mcrtles of
baptlsm to renew their public profession of frdith in Jesus Chri*.
The members, meeting takes pla￿ three to four times per year and has responsibility for the
overall policy of the Church. In accordan￿ viith the Constitution. the members appoint
Deacons, who together with the Mini*er, Church Secretary and Treasurer (who a￿ also
appointed by the Members). are responsible for the day to day running of the Church's work
and witness. and the financial and legal aspects of the charity. AJI members are encouraged
to tske an appropriate part in the spiritual and pradi(al tssks involved in the furtherance of
the charitable objective.
Relevant matters may be submitted to the Churth m￿ting by Ihe Deacons for guidance. or
may be raised by members in Church meeting for further consideration by the Deacons.
Though the Constrtution permits deci&ons to be made at Church meetings by appropriate
majorities. the Church seeks io work by consensus wherever tK)ssible.
The principal purpose of the charity is the a(fvan￿rnent of the Christian faith according io the
prinaples of the Baptist denomination to indude the advan￿ment of edu(3tion. community
Servi￿ and such other general charitable purposes in such parts of the Uniie(l Kingdotn and
the world as the Church shall detemiine.
In order lo athieve the principal obiective. which is set out above. the Churth provides a
vatiety of activities tK)th to ts membership and to the community gen￿ally. Its premises are

also extensivety used by community groups. The aim is to show the love of Jesus Christ in
both word and Lleed and to bring rwle into a closer relationship with Him as living Lord.
Central to the work and wtness of the Church is the provision of regular public Servi￿ of
Christian worship. These services take pla￿ eath Sunday ￿ 10.30 am and the sanctuary is
open for prayer on Wednesday momings. There is a Sunday school for children during the
morning Se￿1￿. The Church seeks to be a friendly and welcoming community and anybody
is free to attend its servi￿. Several new members joined the Church during the year.
The Church njns a prayer and discussion group on Saturday moming to promote the growth
of faith and 10 SUPPOrt the members of the Church. vtho are unable to atten¢J. In addition,
there is an opportunty for private prayer on Wednesday momings and there have been Bible
studies and le(#ures at other times.
The Church is responsible for a Tcxjdler Group whith meets in the hall and lourrfJe on
Tuesday mornings. V•ith the purpose of assistiro ttle communty and demonstrating the love
of Jesus Christ. It holds a morthly charity ooffee moming and supports a local food bank.
The Church operales systems to ensure that all people v4orking with children and vulnerable
adults are approprialely vetted with regard to the Disclosure and Barring Servi￿.
The Church has r8ad the Charity Commission guidance on public benefit, and is satisfied
that the activities outlined above clearly demonstrate that Ihe charity is providing a benefit to
the public.
The Church does not only measure the surxess of its prcMJrammes in numbets, induding
financial numbers, but also in less tangible areas like fellowship and encouragement. The
Deacons recognise that these are dtfficult to measure. but believe that 202￿2021 was a
positive year in the lrfe of the Churth. Although the Church's charitable In￿Me was seriously
reduced during the period of govemment restrictions berxuse of the Covid-19 pandemio it is
expected to recover steadily in 2021-22. There is still Un￿rtaInty over the progress of the
virus, but the Trustees consider the Church's reserves to be sufficient to cary it through
further dIsru￿10n.
-Financi.o.l R
Rickmansworth Baptist Church is a registered charity and meets the definition of a publlc
benefit entity under FRS102. and liabiliti&s are initially recognised at historical cost or
transaction value unless otherwise ststed in the rderdnt accounting policy notes.
The Church continues to raise the funds whith it rEeds to (zrry on its activities from within its
own tnembership and congregation. No v4tder public appeal Wds made for funds during the
year, but the Church receives substrdnlial support through rental income from an office
building. Gable House. and a maisonette, vthich it owns in Rickmansworth.
Rickmansworth Baptist Churth express￿ Èts part in the life of the wider Church by making
grants to national and intemational Chri*ian organisations and S￿IetieS with Christian aims
or wtth objectives ujmpatible with the Church's own charttsble purkx)se.
The Church is heavily detendent on its membetship working as volunteers in all aspects of
the Church's activities, many of which run with little or no impact on the Church's
expenditure. but nevertheless ￿)ntrilmrte substantially to the athievement of the Church's
objectives.

Financial Review
The Church is a parti(ipating employer within the Defin&J Benefft serlion of the Baptist
Pension Scheme and has been making ongoing deficit payrnents to cover the (nsts of past
Servi￿ of its employees wthin the Stheme under a recovery plan. The Church understands
that if "ti had left the Scheffle at the yearend. "ti would have to have made a one-off payment
estimated to be £38,800 (2020 £52,700) to m*t its statutory obligations to the Scheme. The
deficit is much reduced On￿ again. thanks to additional payments by the Church and work
by the Baptist Union and the wider Baptist Family to transfer surplus assets to the Scheme.
The Church has no plan to leave the Scheme and expects to ¢))ntinue to make payments to
the Scheme in line with the re[￿Very plan.
Reserves Poli
The Deacons have estsblished a Reserves Policy to enable the"Church to function
effectively and meet its obligaiions in the event of a dedine in our income or a major cost.
Recent years have seen large fluctuations in trK)th income and expenditure. so the Deacons
are unable to detetmine a fixed level of reserves, which may be appropriate. Howaver, it
keeps the reserves under review by budgeting to ensure that it can ￿)ver th8 Minister's
stipend for at least three years in the fLrture.
The financial resuhs for the year, together wilh a summary of the awunting policies adopted
are set out in the accompanying financsal statements. A few highlights are set out below.
In(x)me:
Offertory and enveloFe income is further reduced from last year. Unlike previous years, this
reflects not so much a conlinued dedine in membership as a reduction in c£sh collections on
account of the Covid-19 crisis.
The decline in other income reflects mainly a ra1￿XIOn in hall lettings on acrnunt of the
. Covid-19 crisis.
Rental income was more stable. It fell as a result of there being fewer rechargeable
expenses.
