REVIEW OF ACTIVITES AND ACHIEVEMENTS

COVID‐19 Pandemic

The start of 2021 continued to be challenging due to the ongoing impact of the COVID‐19 pandemic and its effects on participation in sport. Indoor, contact activities such as Judo were among the sports for which imposed restrictions were most extensive and long‐lasting. Medway Park Judo Club resumed full‐

contact junior Judo sessions on 19[th] April 2021, initially through the establishment of training bubbles in accordance with Government and NGB restrictions. Training bubble restrictions were removed on 19[th] July 2021 and full‐contact senior sessions were resumed on 3[rd] August 2021. Disappointingly, Medway Park Leisure Centre did not return to pre‐COVID‐19 restrictions opening hours, which required earlier start times for most of our sessions. We also made the difficult decision to reduce our weekly session provision from ten sessions to seven, temporarily suspending our Monday senior session (to avoid the disruption of our highly successful Monday junior session that would have been necessary to comply with the earlier leisure centre closure) and both our Friday sessions (due to issues with coach availability).

Membership and Fees

Judo coaching is delivered regularly five days per week (Mon‐Thu, Sat) through seven classes meeting the needs of various age groups and abilities. Our provision was initially limited by the COVID‐19 pandemic (see above). The total Club Membership number at the end of the period covered by this report could not reliably be estimated as all memberships taken out in the pandemic‐disrupted 2020 were automatically extended until the end of 2021.

Our fees were adjusted as below:

Member Session Fee: £2.00

Non‐Member Session Fee: £3.00

Annual Junior Membership Fee: £12.00

Annual Senior Membership Fee: £18.00

Annual Family Membership Fee: £24.00

NB – Visitor session fees were increased from £2.50; annual membership fees were reduced from 2020 and no longer include membership of Medway Park Leisure Centre. The Club has moved to mostly card payments taken through the Zettle (formerly iZettle) platform.

Classes/Sessions

We deliver seven classes over five days per week (Mon‐Thu, Sat) meeting the needs of a variety of age groups and abilities ensuring equitable access for all. Our provision was limited by the COVID‐19 pandemic (see above). Statistics correspond to the period from 3[rd] August only (all sessions resumed).
