## Section D Achievements and performance

Camden Fencing Club is one of the UK’s most successful fencing clubs **Summary of the main** offering lessons in sabre and foil to children, adults and veterans. We **achievements of the charity** welcome beginners and experienced fencers of all ages covering a broad **during the year** range of abilities from those starting the sport to members of the GB national teams. Our programmes are aimed to help people realise their true potential.

With professional coaches we run 5 youth, 4 adult sessions and one women’s squad session per week. We have over 200 members and visitors participating in our Club. Camden Fencing Club has worked hard create a programme to support fencers on the journey to the Olympics and support the Club. The London Borough of Camden is concerned about inactive youth, and we are delighted to provide after school fencing sessions. Evidence suggests that fencing is uniquely positioned to attract an inactive population that is uninterested in sport and inactive population. Fencing is a strategic sport, almost like a physical form of chess. It teaches young people to think for themselves and to analyse the way other people think. Fencing is an activity that gives girls the opportunity to master challenges, boosting their self-esteem and resilience. Fencing takes attention away from looks and instead puts the focus on physical fitness and improving technique.

We would like to recognise those who have supported the Club through donations as well as the talented fencers who have competed in our wonderful sport both in the UK and abroad.

## **Section E Financial review**

Income grew 25%. Membership fees and donations grew strongly. We **Brief statement of the** did not run a Competition at the club in 2024 which reduced our income **charity’s policy on reserves** from that source. Expenses were lower: Hall hire and coaching costs were in line with prior year but expenses were lower as the costs of a Summer training camp were incurred after period end (but the costs of the 2023 camp were incurred within the 2023 financial year. The Club supports competitors by providing coaching. **Details of any funds materially** none **in deficit**
