Camden Fendng
Ckrb
I~one ofthe UK's most successful
fencing dubs
offering lessons
in sabre snd foil to children,
adults and veterans
We
wekNme
beginners
and experienced fencers of all ages covering a broad
range ofabilities from those stardng the sport to members
ofthe GB
national teams. Our programmes
are aimed to help people realise their
true potential.
With professional
coaches we run 5youth, 4 adult sessions and one
women's
squad session per week.
Ws have over 200 members
and
visitors participating
in our Club.
Camden
Fencing Club hss worked hard crasis a programme
to support
fencers on the journey to the Olympics snd support the Club.
The London Borough ofCamden
is concerned
about inactive youth and
we are delighted
to provide atter school fencing sessions
Evidence
suggests
that fencing is uniquely
positioned
toauraa an inactive
population
that is uninterested
in sport and inactive populalion.
Fencing is
a strategic sport, almost like s physical
form ofchess. Itteaches young
people to think for themselves
and to anslyse the way other people think.
We continue
with Muslim
Women Fence in conjuncuon
with the Muslim
Sports Association
end Camden
Muslim Woman's
Project to engage
Muslim woman
in sporL This is atargeted approach - giving Muslim
women the opportunity
to stay physically
active and socialise at tha same
time. Many of our participants
have young children
and welcome
the time
to do an activity which engages them physically
and mentally.
Fencing is an activity that gives girls the opportunity
to master
challenges,
boosting their selfwsteam
snd msilienoe.
Fencing takes
attention
away from kicks and instead puts the focus on physical fitness
snd improving
technique.
We would
like to recognise the Wlnton
family,
ING and parents who have
supported
the Club through
donations
to support the Club as well ss
talented fencers to compete
in the UK snd abroad.
Membership
fees and donations
remained
stable this year. However
Brief statement ofthe sponsorshlps
snd grants were lower.
Expenses were hlghel' as with ths
charity's policy on reserves Club purchasing
mora equipment
for female fencers and a 12%Increase
in hall hire. The Club supports
competitors
by pnwiding
coaching.
