Summary
ofthe main
chievsments
ofthe charity
during the year
Camden
Fencing Club is one ofthe UK's most successful fencing clubs
olfering lessons
in sabre to children,
adults and veterans.
We welcome
beginners
and experienced
fencers of all ages covering a broad range of
abilities from those starting the sport to members ofthe GB national
teems. Our programmes
ars aimed to help people realise their
true potential.
Nlith professional
coaches we run 4 youth and 3adult sessions per week
as well as one competitive
session each month.
We have over 200
members
and visitors participating
in our Club.
Camden
Fencing Club has worked
hard create a programme
to support
fencers on the journey
to the Olympics snd support the Club.
The London Borough ofCamden
is concerned
about inactive youth and
we ars delighted
that they have agreed to support CFCto provide after
school fencing sessions.
Evidence suggests
that fencing is uniquely
positioned
to attract an inactive
population
that is uninterested
in sport
and
inactive population.
Fencing is a strategic sport, almost like a physical
form
ofchess. Itteaches young people to think for themselves
and to analyse
he way other people think.
W'e continue
with Muslim Women Fence in conjunction
with the Muslim
Sports Association
and Camden
Muslim Women's
Project to engage
Muslim women
in sport. This is a targeted approach - giving
Muslim
women the opportunity
to stay physically
active and socialise at the same
time. Many ofour participants
have young
children
and welcome the time
to do an activity which engages them physically
and mentally.
Fendng is an activity that gives girls the opportunity
to master challenges,
boosting their self-esteem
and resilience. Fencing takes attention
away
rom looks and instead
puts the focus on physical fitness and improving
echnique.
We would
like to recognise the Winton family,
ING and parents who have
supported
the Club through
donations
to support the Club as well as
slanted fencers to compete
in the UK and abroad.
We are excited that
competitions
are recommencing
- not only for our fencers but also for the
Club to host competition
events - with our first competition
scheduled
for
October 2022.
