Physical training and education available to all in the community. We welcome **achievements of the charity** beginners and experienced fencers of all ages covering a broad range of **during the year** abilities from those starting the sport to members of the GB national teams. Our programmes are aimed to help people realise their true potential. With professional coaches we run 4 youth and 3 adult sessions per week as well as one competitive session each month. We have over 200 members and visitors participating in our Club. Camden Fencing Club has worked hard create a programme to support fencers on the journey to the Olympics and support the Club. Unfortunately our Olympic hopefuls were not able to train and compete in the Japan 2020 (2021) Olympics. The London Borough of Camden is concerned about inactive youth and we are delighted that they have agreed for CFC to provide after school fencing sessions. Evidence suggests that fencing is uniquely positioned to attract an inactive population that is uninterested in sport and inactive population. Fencing is a strategic sport, almost like a physical form of chess. It teaches young people to think for themselves and to analyse the way other people think. We continue with Muslim Women Fence in conjunction with the Muslim Sports Association and Camden Muslim Women’s Project to engage Muslim women in sport. This is a targeted approach - giving Muslim women the opportunity to stay physically active and socialise at the same time. Many of our participants have young children and welcome the time to do an activity which engages them physically and mentally. Fencing is an activity that gives girls the opportunity to master challenges, boosting their self-esteem and resilience. Fencing takes attention away from looks and instead puts the focus on physical fitness and improving technique. The club also received a grant from London Sport to start a satellite after school club at Acland Burghley School. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 we have been unable to start the programme, however as soon as we get the go ahead from the school and the government we shall endeavour to carry out this programme. We would like to recognise the Winton family who have supported the Club through donations to the Camden Winton Fund to support talented fencers to compete in the UK and abroad. Unfortunately competitions were suspended during 2021. We are excited that they will recommence in the 2021 2022 year – not only for our fencers but also for the Club to host competition events. ## **Section E Financial review** Revenues were significantly down as due to Covid-19 we had to suspend **Brief statement of the** sessions. Expenses were higher as we provide equipment to fencers **charity’s policy on reserves** and due to Covid-19 needed to purchase additional equipment. We were able to keep the Club open due to Government grants and generous donations. The Government has stopped funding for Fencing.
