Community Chaplains Report of Trustees 2024/2025
Registered Charity: 1175773
The Trustees submit their report and the financial statements of Community Chaplains (“ the Charity ”) for the year ended 30 July 2025.
The financial statements have been prepared in the format prescribed by the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities (SORP2015 (FRS102)) and the Financial Reporting Standard 102. The legal and administrative information set out earlier in this document forms part of this report.
Organisation
The Board of three Trustees administer the Charity. They formally meet annually, with informal operational contact approximately quarterly.
For the financial period to July 2025 the charity has been operational with 2 active chaplains (5 inactive) within the Borough of Richmond.
Administrative changes have occurred during this year, as follows:
- Christopher Whittome (CW) has been replaced as trustee by Barry Colyer (BC)
The major risks to which the Charity is exposed, as identified by the Trustees, have had policies established to mitigate those risks prior to any operational deployment.
Due to the low level of activity, the charity expenditure was zero. This was a result of cancelling nonessential costs associated with institutional affiliation and insurance. No fundraising was carried out. The charity has a balance of £34.80.
The small expenditure on website hosting, domain name registration, and updated business cards in 2024/25 was provided from personal funds by the active chaplains.
Related Parties and cooperation with other organisations.
The Trustees are unpaid and receive no benefit from their work with the Charity. There is no relationship between any trustee and suppliers. No employees have been engaged. The Charity has continued good relationships with organisations indicating support including some local churches, Aston Lodge Nursing Home (Sunbury), and other agencies.
Activity and Public Benefit
No new recruitment or training has occurred.
Activities include:
- Weekly visits to the Ashton Lodge Nursing home in Sunbury, UK. Providing a befriending service for the residents as well as (where requested) prayer and spiritual conversations for the distressing situations found (dementia, cancer, depression, frustration, loneliness, etc.).
This service has been very well received and is, increasingly, being used by the caring staff as well.
Interest about becoming a Chaplain has been received from several
