Trustees’ Annual Report
1. Introduction
Beka Welfare Trust continued to support people experiencing hardship during 2025 through food, clothing, footwear, hygiene items, educational support and community activities. A major development was the launch of the National Lottery-funded Swindon Family & Youth Cost of Living Skills Hub , a two-year programme for families, young people and the wider community.
2. Objectives and Activities
The Trust focused on relieving hardship, supporting people facing food insecurity, providing essential goods, helping young people with educational and digital needs, and developing health awareness and practical learning activities.
3. Achievements and Performance
Food support: Approximately 567 food parcels and food distributions were arranged with support from local people, restaurants, businesses and community organisations.
Clothing and footwear: 27 pairs of footwear for girls and young women, 33 pairs for women, 18 pairs of men’s jeans, 32 men’s shirts, 9 pairs of men’s shoes, 5 pairs of socks and 36 complete women’s outfits were received and distributed.
Hygiene support: Toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoos, soaps and other personal care items were provided according to identified need.
Educational support: Category C laptops were provided to GCSE students who needed access to technology for study.
Reuse and redistribution: Books, curtains and other useful household goods were redistributed. Surplus usable items were passed to other charities.
4. Swindon Family & Youth Cost of Living Skills Hub
During 2025, the Trust received a £19,980 restricted National Lottery grant for the Swindon Family & Youth Cost of Living Skills Hub. The grant supports a two-year programme.
Project activity began in December 2025 with a Diabetes Awareness Programme and Digital Health Learning. Tools, equipment and materials were purchased to support delivery. The grant will also support tutors, learning materials, venue hire, indoor and outdoor activities, and other eligible costs agreed with the National Lottery.
Project expenditure in 2025 was £2,709.29 . The remaining restricted balance of £17,270.71 was carried forward for continued delivery over the remaining funding period.

7. Non-Financial Support
A significant part of the Trust’s work was supported by donated goods and practical help from the public, local businesses, restaurants and community organisations. Where reliable valuation evidence was not available, no financial value was placed on these items.
8. Financial Controls and Transparency
The Trust encourages bank-based and traceable transactions wherever practical. Cash is kept to a minimum and used only where direct electronic payment is not reasonably available. Cash use is recorded, reviewed by trustees and supported by available evidence and explanations.
9. Governance, Risk and Reserves
The trustees oversee the charity’s activities, finances, restricted funds, safeguarding and key risks. Significant expenditure and new projects are considered by the trustees. The Trust aims to maintain reasonable unrestricted funds for ongoing activities and unexpected needs. Restricted funds are held for their specified purposes and are not treated as general reserves.
10. Future Plans
The Trust plans to continue the Swindon Family & Youth Cost of Living Skills Hub, expand health and digital learning sessions, engage tutors and facilitators, arrange suitable venues and materials, deliver agreed indoor and outdoor activities, and continue practical support for people experiencing hardship.
11. Trustees’ Responsibilities and Approval
The trustees are responsible for maintaining appropriate accounting records, safeguarding the charity’s assets and taking reasonable steps to prevent and detect fraud and other financial irregularities.

I report on my examination of the accounts and financial records of Beka Welfare Trust for the year ended 31 December 2025.
Responsibilities
The trustees are responsible for maintaining proper accounting records, safeguarding the charity’s assets and preparing the annual accounts. My responsibility is to examine the records and report on matters arising from my examination. This examination is not an audit and I do not express an audit opinion.
Basis of Examination
I reviewed the bank statements, opening and closing balances, income and expenditure records, available invoices and receipts, cash expenditure explanations, bank reconciliation, refunded and erroneous transactions, and records relating to the restricted National Lottery grant and the Swindon Family & Youth Cost of Living Skills Hub. I also considered the consistency of the Trustees’ Annual Report with the records made available to me.
Independent Examiner’s Statement
Based on my examination, no matter has come to my attention which gives me reasonable cause to believe that appropriate accounting records have not been maintained or that the accounts do not agree with the records and supporting information made available to me.
No matter has come to my attention which, in my opinion, should be drawn to the attention of the trustees to enable a proper understanding of the accounts.
