## **Friends of Ashtead Youth Club Charity Annual Report 23/24**

**An Inclusive Community**

We are proud of our Club’s inclusive ethos, where any young person who wants to come along is welcomed.

Many of our members are happy just cking along and take a role in making our community inclusive. Other members need a lile more support to feel happy and comfortable with us.

for everybody (a Universal Service), staff will naturally spend a lile more me and energy with those youngsters who can most benefit from our experse. This is so we are able to support them as they make their way through their transion from childhood to becoming a young adult.

## **How we manage our money**

Our income comes from groups who use the building, formal grants, local grants, fundraising and donaons from individuals.

**Between April 23 and March 24** Our income amounted to £31,913 Our expenditure amounted to £30,325 Approx headlines include: Youth Work Staffing £12,500 Youth Work Acvies £ 7,450 Buildings costs £ 3,000 Cleaning materials £ 150 Minibus costs £ 1,100 Administraon inc Insurances £ 2,300 Our reserves as of 1/4/24 were £38,229.00

strength to strength. Youth Clubs remain busy as ever, our staffing is stable with a mix between seasoned staff and younger volunteers, and the programme remains robust with the inclusion of Rally Karng, School Holiday Acvies, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the Rotary Youth Leadership Award.

## **Youth Clubs**

**Working in Partnership with East Surrey YMCA**

We run two Youth Clubs on Thursday night every week. Both remain popular with a regular 60 plus young people aending each week.

We are fortunate to be teamed up with the well established Youth Work team at the YMCA. This partnership affords us the benefits of our youth work team being part of a much larger organisaon, supporng professional standards, accountability and a connecon with experienced and knowledgeable colleagues. We are looking forward to further developing our partnership over the next year.

Young people enjoy the opportunity to socialise with their friends, enjoy team sports, cra, Lego, cooking, gaming and we invite them to tell us what they want from our youth club. Our Youth Workers are supported by a team of volunteers and senior members who help run the sessions.

## **Recognising Young People’s Achievements**

Our core purpose is to acvely deliver a programme that supports young people’s growth and development in order that they become socially mature and ready for the workplace. We have recognised our volunteers though Surrey Youth Voice Awards and Rotary Youth Leadership, and enjoyed presenng our first new Bronze completers with their cerficates and Rally Karng Season Medals.

**Our priories for the next year…………**

We are very happy with the way we have developed since taking over the Youth Club from Surrey County Council in 2021. Our priories over the next year will include:

- 1) Connuing to deliver a stable developmental Youth Service with our young people. This will include weekly Youth Clubs, the D of E Award and Rally Karng Project.

- 2) Further develop the capacity of the Commiee so we have the people resources to grow the charity and scope of services we offer.

- 3) Connue to improve the quality of the building fabric and range of community groups that can work with us to meet the wider needs of the Ashtead Community.

**Refecons from the Chair of our Charity**

I’m delighted to say that this has been another successful year for Ashtead Youth Club. With full capacity aendance on the Thursday Night Clubs, a full season of Karng, and a variety of school holiday acvies. Our fantasc youth workers and wonderful volunteers have pulled out all the stops to give the young people of Ashtead a service they can be proud of. Addionally, we have opened up the building to new community groups – further cemenng our role as a venue the whole Village can be proud of.
