The Hwb Torfaen has provided the provision of a 5 day a week youth service and associated activities to support the young people and community of Blaenavon and the surrounding areas. It works with young people and the community to: 

(a) the provision of recreational and leisure time activities provided in the interest of social welfare, designed to improve their conditions of life; 

- Increase young person aspirations 

- Support post 16 employment opportunities 

- Increase opportunities for employment in the community through the development of skills and accreditations 

- Increase digital literary 

(b) providing support and activities which develop their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals. 

- Build the social capital of young people 

- Support young people and the community to live healthy lifestyles 

- ~~Support young parents with bett~~ er parenting skills 

- Provide support to the most vulnerable young people in collaboration with key agencies. 

- Provides activities to increase positive inter-generational cohesion 

- - Challenge perceptions of young people and support positive youth representation in community matters. 

- Use arts, heritage and culture to increase pride and wellbeing in young people and the community. 

The trustees of the organisation have followed the guidance of the charity commission and all activities are undertaken for the sole purpose of public benefit.

**HWB Blaenavon –** 

**HWB youth club continues to engage up to 60 young people each evening and is a thriving community hub in the heart of the town. The huge capital investment has ensured that the space is fit for purpose and is looking better than ever.** 

HWB at Woodlands – We have completed phase one of our capital project with the Lottery Grant and have submitted a CFG frant to complete phase 2. 

We are currently working on making the site carbon neutral, we have been awarded funding for Solar and batteries and efficient heating to reduce C02. All of which will be installed 2025. 

HWB’s World Heritage Youth Ambassadors program has continued after the funding has ended thanks to smaller grants, we are working up our nect HLF grant to be submitted 2025. 

We have received our Investing in Volunteers award.

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF THE HWB TORFAEN** 

## **FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST MARCH 2024** 

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner** 

The trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider 

that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Ac and that an independent examination is needed. 

It is my responsibility to: 

- Examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act 

- To follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Chairity Commission (under section 145(5)(b)of the Charities Act, and 

- To state whether particular matters have come to my attention. 

## **Basis of independent examiner's report** 

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Char Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the char and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideratio any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as truste concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence tha would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts prese a 'true and fair' view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. 

## **Independent examiner's statement** 

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention to indicate that: 

(1) Accounts have not been kept in accordance with section 386 of the Companies Act 2006. 

(2) The accounts do not accord with such records. 

(3) Where accounts are prepared on an accruals basis, whether they fail to comply with relevant accounting requirements under section 396 of the Companies Act 2006,or are not consistent with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 

(4) Any matter which the examiner believes should be drawn to the attention of the reader to gain a proper understanding of the accounts.
