a 5 day a week youth service and associated activities to support the young people and community of Blaenavon and the surrounding areas. It works with young people and the community to:

- Support post 16 employment opportunities 

- Increase opportunities for employment in the community through the development of skills and accreditations

**HWB Blaenavon –** 

a 

**HWB youth club continues to engage up to 60 young people each evening and is a thriving community hub in the heart of the town. The huge capital investment has ensured that the space is fit for purpose and is looking better than ever.** 

Children in Need; We are into our final year of the 3 year youth project and have reported successfully on years 1 and 2. We are in the process of writing the next propject. 

HWB at Woodlands – We have been successful in our bid for half a million pounds to the lottery fund and capital work is due to start in early 2023. 

HWB’s World Heritage Youth Ambassadors program is a HLF funded project and we are into our final year, the project has seen many achievements in this financial year. The group have won a number of local and national awards and hosted a royal visit in this financial year with social media views hitting over a million engagements. 

T1DY – Our youth diabetes project in partnership with the Aneurin Bevan Health Board is coming to its completion and we are currently working on the report and evaluation on the impact this project has had to support the lives of children and young people living with type 1 Diabetes.

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF THE HWB TORFAEN** 

## **FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST MARCH 2023** 

## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner** 

The trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act ) and that an independent examination is needed. 

It is my responsibility to: 

- Examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act 

- To follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Chairity Commission (under section 145(5)(b)of the Charities Act, and 

- To state whether particular matters have come to my attention. 

## **Basis of independent examiner's report** 

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair' view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. 

## **Independent examiner's statement** 

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention to indicate that: 

(1) Accounts have not been kept in accordance with section 386 of the Companies Act 2006. 

(2) The accounts do not accord with such records. 

(3) Where accounts are prepared on an accruals basis, whether they fail to comply with relevant accounting requirements under section 396 of the Companies Act 2006,or are not consistent with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 

(4) Any matter which the examiner believes should be drawn to the attention of the reader to gain a proper understanding of the accounts.
