Section D
A major change this year has been that. as the result of a Kenya
National Government decision, pupils are now expected to stay on for
3 more years within a new Junior Secondary School. It was felt
irnportant that we should offer thi5 to the pupils in order to remain
competitive.
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity
during the year
This has brought some major changes and linancial challenges to the
school, including the construction of additional classrooms and latrines
plus the recrultment of additional teachers. The parents have agreed to
fund one teacher. Thi5 lon8-term financial commitment shows their
eagerness to support the school.
The establishment of a Junior Secondary School within Barbara
Leighton Academy has also requlred the provlsion of a new Science
Laboratory and enhanced IT facilities, including an expanded Computer
Laboratory.
The funding of our Feeding Programme for all pupi15 remain5 a top
priority for the trustees and we have also been keen to fund
participation in extracurricular activities, including local sports
competitions and the establishment of a Scout Troop.
