4 **Gateshead Football Club Community Foundation Financial statements for the year ended 31 October 2025** ## Walking Football Over the last 12 months the Foundation has run a total of 400 walking football sessions over 7 venues throughout the borough including 50 sessions specifically for women and 50 sessions for disabled participants. This equates to a 11% increase in sessions over the previous year due to demand. Currently there are 150 male participants and 10 female participants. _"Before taking up walking football I spent most of my daytime hours on my own doing very little which I know had a negative effect on both my wellbeing and general health. Now my fitness is improving, I am looking to see if I can play a second game during the week."_ _"This is amazing project. Continue it as long as you can. It helps participants to stay healthy and socialize." "As I moved down last year from Edinburgh after playing for 6 years there, I have found that the players have made me feel welcome and Ben has managed the sessions brilliantly."_ _"Walking football has given me a new lease of life after having to give up football for health reasons in my mid-30s, as well as helping me make many new friends."_ ## Holiday Activities During school holidays, the Foundation ran a total of 16 football coaching camps at an average of 60 children per session. Each session ran for 4 hours. Funding was provided by Gateshead Council’s Brighten the Day Project and Durham Freemasons; the Foundation provided the coaches and the activities. The Foundation also ran 12 free pop-up football sessions at various parks throughout Gateshead with the support of the friends of Felling with an average of 30 children attending each session. Free family trips to Riverside Park, Whitehouse Farm, Beamish, Flamingo Land and the Christmas Pantomime were also organised by the Foundation for children and families. During the school Holidays free Tennis sessions were ran for the children which continued during and evenings of terms 1 and 2. During the holidays free breakfast clubs for families were also held at Bensham Grove along with numerous crafting days including meet the fire brigade and Creative planting. Christmas involved the Foundation visiting 16 different groups that the Foundation works with throughout the year as well as running energy advice with soup and sandwich sessions at local resident flats. 5 **Gateshead Football Club Community Foundation Financial statements for the year ended 31 October 2025** _“My children thrive from attending the football camps, they are excited to attend and always leave with a huge amount of fulfilment! They are already looking forward to the next! Thanks for all the great work you do.”_ _“The football camps offer a brilliant opportunity for my son to mix with other children from various backgrounds and schools which helps him understand our community better. The sessions are frequently ran by some brilliant male role models who are supportive and encouraging to develop the kids football and social skills. I’m so pleased my son is able to join in with these sessions although he does not receive free school meals it’s still so important for him to mix with those that do! Thank you so much!”_ _“My child thoroughly enjoys attending the football camps during the school holidays, they are a fantastic way for children to be doing something they love with children of the same age. It helps my son’s social skills and resilience to be able to attend these”_ _“Mabel loves these sessions, is confident enough to go without her friends and loves the coaches who really support her!”_ _“My son feels very underconfident with football, choosing not to participate in the school playground, hence I was keen for him to participate in these football camps. Despite football not being "his thing", and even afterwards he doesn't think he's very gifted at it, he still really enjoyed the camps - this is testament to what a lovely inclusive atmosphere the coaches created. He is keen to participate again in the future if he gets the chance. I hope he will be able to do so and so grow further in confidence.”_ 6 **Gateshead Football Club Community Foundation Financial statements for the year ended 31 October 2025** ## Schools Project The Foundation has worked with Gateshead Schools Sports Partnership to deliver P.E. lessons and after school activity sessions to 12 schools, with over 300 children learning new skills and building confidence in a fun and friendly environment. ## Outreach Youth Programme The Foundation continues to run free football coaching sessions on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday evenings and Saturday mornings for children in the Teams, Chopwell, Dunston and Bensham areas. A total of 110 children attends these weekly sessions. _“My Son Ryan absolutely loves his Saturday morning football with Junior Heed, he has grown in confidence, made new friends and is now a better player and teammate. “_ _“These football sessions are the absolute highlight of my sons week. He has grown in confidence, selfesteem and skill since starting. He has also made some friends along the way too. We are very grateful to_ _have such a warm community and appreciate all of the hard work and efforts that Gateshead Football Association put into it all. Joseph has learnt so much from these and built his confidence to play with his friends at school break”_ 7 **Gateshead Football Club Community Foundation Financial statements for the year ended 31 October 2025** ## Children’s Educational Activities As part of key stage 2 Primary School learning 38 children attended Newcastle Keep to partake in a Medieval Alchemy Workshop to discover Science in the Middle ages. At Halloween 40 of our families took part in a historical tour of Newcastle by night to learn about witches and vampires from the Witch-finder General. _“My class went to the Castle on Tuesday for the alchemy workshop, medieval tour and spooky tales. I would like to say a really big thank you, the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience, they had never been to the castle before and were so excited to go. The alchemy workshop had them sitting on the edge of their seats with wonder, waiting to find out what would happen next. They were all engaged throughout the whole visit and were so excited to tell their parents and friends when they got back to school, they are still talking about it now! George was an excellent host, looking after us and gave the children a wealth of knowledge about the castle, also offering spooky tales which had them listening to his every word!_ _I really appreciate you thinking of the school and giving the children this opportunity for such a fantastic experience.”_ _“We had a fab time, thanks for putting on such a great event”_ ## Adult Educational Activities The Foundation continues to run a number of free adult cookery classes throughout the year for the local community in partnership with the Nourish Food School. The classes were run over a number of weeks where the participants learned to cook a number of nutritious meals using both slow cookers and air fryers. At the end of the classes each participant received a free slow cooker and air fryer. 8 **Gateshead Football Club Community Foundation Financial statements for the year ended 31 October 2025** ## Breakfast clubs The holiday breakfast clubs remain a huge success with over 30 participants at each of the 12 clubs we ran over the year including breakfast with Santa where over 100 attended. ## Pilates The popular ladies Pilates session has continued on a Friday morning at Bensham Grove Community Centre with currently 12 participants. _“Really enjoy the friendly atmosphere and the class always leaves me feeling I have achieved something”._ _“I have loved every minute of being back at Pilates”._ _“Highlight of my week”._ ## d/Deaf Activities The project has been a huge success working in partnership with Gateshead Council Low Incidence Needs Team, over 30 children attend each of the sessions covering football, basketball, badminton and swimming lessons with skilled instructors, sign language interpreters and LINT teaching assistants. New skills have been learned, confidence has risen and new friendships have been made. _“My child enjoyed the sessions since doing the football sessions before the summer he has now had the confidence to attend football sessions ran by school. It’s a great way to bring the community together. I as a parent have loved seeing the smiles on all the children's faces while they do the sessions and that’s all thanks to the coaches, staff and other professionals involved. These sessions are great.”_ 9 **Gateshead Football Club Community Foundation Financial statements for the year ended 31 October 2025** ## Energy Advice Our project in conjunction with Norther Gas Networks aims to provide advice and guidance to our community to help deal with rising energy costs and raise awareness on the dangers of carbon monoxide. The team have attended many training courses to make sure information given is accurate and up to date. We have attended a number of events and sessions with different community groups including stroke survivors, D/deaf and hard of hearing support groups, community housing groups as well as a presence at many family events. ## DJ Project The Youth Mental Health Project has seen strong and consistent engagement, with young people currently participating in a DJ Skills Development Project. This creative, skills-based approach has proven highly effective in engaging young people who may otherwise be at risk of social isolation or involvement in anti-social behaviour. To date, we have recorded 67 youth engagements, with 20–30 boys and girls attending each session. Sessions provide structured activity, peer support and positive adult role models, helping young people to develop confidence, teamwork skills and emotional wellbeing. The project has received positive recognition from Northumbria Police, Gateshead Metrocentre, Gateshead Council and NEXUS who have praised the sessions for helping to reduce anti-social behaviour, providing constructive alternative activities during peak risk periods and improving young people’s mental health, selfesteem and sense of belonging. 10 **Gateshead Football Club Community Foundation Financial statements for the year ended 31 October 2025** ## Women’s Wellbeing Group The Women’s Wellbeing group continues to go from strength to strength with the maximum 16 participants, with a waiting list. Our Women are aged 18 to 76 from a wide mix of backgrounds, including survivors of domestic abuse, women with long-term health conditions, members of the d/Deaf community and those experiencing isolation. Weekly sessions combine creative journaling and guided discussion, focusing on self-esteem, self-care, friendship, nutrition, body positivity and skill-building. Participants report increased confidence, reduced loneliness and a stronger sense of connection. Many have formed lasting friendships and now engage more in community life. The group continues to provide a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space where women can improve their wellbeing and build resilience. We have recently run sessions in Needle Felting and embroidery that have been extremely well received. _"Fantastic time, love this group. The company became a registered charity on 3[rd] November 2017. ## Corporate status The charity is a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO). ## Statement of the Trustees’ responsibilities The trustees are responsible for preparing the Report of the trustees and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice). The law applicable to charities in England and Wales, the Charities Act 2011, Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provisions of the trust deed requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year, which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources, including the income and expenditure, of the charity for that period. In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to: - select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently; - observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP; - make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; - prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the company will continue to operate. The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provisions of the trust deed. We have managed to control money and use it effectively to run the Community programmes. We rely heavily on our dedicated team of unpaid volunteers and helpers. Our financial information, with details of how and where we have spent our money, is contained within the annual accounts on the Charity Commission's website and as part of this report.
