The Annual General Body Meeting (Assembly) of the Council of the Mar Thoma Parishes in Europe will be held on Saturday, 05th July 2025, 9.30 am at St Johns Mar Thoma Church UK, 80/96 Cambridge Road, Hounslow, TW47BH. The Rt Revd Dr Joseph Mar Ivanios Episcopa, will chair the meeting. The agenda of the meeting is attached. All members are requested to be present.

## _**1. Introduction**_
The world continues to witness significant global events that shape our present and future. From the election of Sir Keir Starmer as the UK Prime Minister and the re-election of Donald Trump as President of the United States, to the ongoing wars in Ukraine and the IsraelPalestine region, our times are marked by political shifts and humanitarian crises. These conflicts have led to immense human suffering—countless casualties, the destruction of homes, and widespread violations of human rights.
We also see the persecution of Christians in several nations, and a troubling rise in human rights violations in various parts of the world, including parts of India. Environmental challenges continue to mount, with intense solar eruptions triggering geomagnetic storms, global temperatures reaching alarming highs, and natural disasters disrupting the balance of our ecosystem.
Economic pressures, migration-related fraud, and personal struggles at home and in the workplace add to the weight many are carrying. As people move across borders in search of better opportunities for study and employment, they often face exploitation and deception. All these issues contribute to a picture of a world in turmoil.
And yet, amid all these challenges, we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to gather, worship, and grow together in faith. It is in these uncertain times that the reassuring voice of the Lord speaks most clearly: “Do not be afraid, for I am with you.”

This divine promise brings peace in the midst of chaos, hope in the face of despair, and strength for each day. Let us continue to stand firm in our faith, supporting one another and praying for healing and justice across the world.
The Council of Mar Thoma Parishes in Europe (COMPE) is a distinctive administrative body instituted by the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church to ensure effective coordination and governance of its parishes and congregations within the UK and Europe region. The year 2024–2025 marks a historic milestone in the life of the Council, as the UK and Europe Zone was elevated to the status of a Diocese of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church. This significant development represents a new chapter of growth, responsibility, and mission for the Church in this region. In accordance with Clause 4 of the COMPE Constitution, the following annual report is hereby presented as a record of the Council’s activities, developments, and progress during this momentous year.
## _**2. Governance & Administration**_
## **2.1. Diocesan Episcopa**
The Rt. Revd Dr. Joseph Mar Ivanios Episcopa continued to serve as the Diocesan Episcopa and President of the Council of Mar Thoma Parishes in Europe during the reporting year. Thirumeni faithfully carried out his Episcopal visits, presided over diocesan programs, and visited parishes and congregations, offering spiritual leadership, pastoral care, and administrative oversight. In addition to his regular duties, Thirumeni also provided leadership in various programs organized by the auxiliary Organisations, many of which were conducted through digital platforms. We are grateful for his dedicated service and look forward to the continued blessings of his leadership for the growth and development of the diocese.

## _**3. Annual General Body (Assembly) Meeting**_
The Annual General Body meeting of the COMPE was held on 06th July 2024 at St. John's Mar Thoma Church, 80 Cambridge Road, Hounslow, TW4 7BH. The president of the COMPE Assembly, Rt Revd Dr Joseph Mar Ivanios Episcopa presided over the meeting.
## **Key decisions at the COMPE Assembly**
- a. The annual report for 1st April 2023 to 31st March 2024 was presented and passed
- b. The annual account for 1st April 2023 to 31st March 2024 with an income of £211,637.13 and expenditure of £100,161.99 and the balance of £111,475.14 was presented and passed
- c. The annual Budget for the year 2024-25 with an income of £565,893.72 and expenditure of £245,685.00 was presented and passed
- d. Authorised the COMPE Council/ Charity trustees to spend no more than 6/12 of expenditure of the year 2024-25 for the first six months of the year 2025-26
- e. Appointed Mr Abraham Niravath & Mr Thomas Alexander as the Independent examiners for the year 2024-25
- f. Appointed Ms Jitender Kaur, Chartered Accountant Faith House, Main Street Leicester, LE2 2FS, as the external auditor for 2024-25
## _**4. COMPE Assembly for the CIO Constitution Amendment**_
A special general body meeting of the COMPE took place on 22 March 2025 at St. John's Mar Thoma Church, 80 Cambridge Road, Hounslow, TW4 7BH to ratify the amendments of the COMPE CIO Constitution in order to fulfil the legal requirement to function as a Diocese. The president of the COMPE Assembly, Rt Revd Dr Joseph Mar Ivanios Episcopa, chaired the meeting.
## _**5. COMPE Council Meeting**_
The COMPE Council officially met eight times during the reporting year, both in person and virtually. The council made timely decisions to execute the programs and objectives set by the COMPE Assembly.
## _**6. Diocesan Office and Bishop’s Residence (Aramana)**_
The COMPE office and Bishop’s residence are in the Mar Thoma Centre, 11 Priory Gardens, Ashford, Surrey, TW15 1NZ. All the legal work regarding the registration of the property and building was completed successfully in the reporting year.
## _**7. Bishop’s Secretary:**_
Revd Subin Mathew Parayil is appointed as the bishop’s secretary during the reporting year. He stayed at the centre and managed the office.

## _**8. Office Assistant:**_
Mr Anish P. Tom continued to serve as an office assistant on a part-time basis, providing valuable support with general office tasks, particularly in connection with the Diocese's 'Light to Life' project.
## _**9. Parishes & Congregations**_
The Mar Thoma Community in the UK-Europe-Africa Diocese has witnessed significant growth over the past year, primarily due to increased migration into the region. This encouraging development has led to a notable rise in membership across all parishes and congregations. In response, these church bodies have proactively taken steps to welcome and assist new members as they settle into their new environments.
At the beginning of the reporting year, the Diocese comprised 15 parishes and 8 congregations. By the end of the year, this had grown to 16 parishes and 10 congregations, reflecting both numerical growth and structural development. To support more effective administration and pastoral care, all parishes and congregations within the Diocese have been organised into five centres, as per the decision of the Episcopal Synod.
_**We are pleased to announce the following significant developments within the Diocese during the year:**_
1. Nottingham Mar Thoma Congregation has been elevated to the status of a Parish under the name Holy Trinity Mar Thoma Church.
2. The Limerick Prayer Group, formerly under the Dublin Nazareth Mar Thoma Church, was elevated to the status of a Congregation with effect from 1st July 2024.
3. The Taunton Prayer Group, under the Bristol St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church, and the Leicester Prayer Group, under the Birmingham Hermon Mar Thoma Church, were elevated to Congregations with effect from 1st January 2025.
We give thanks to God for His continued guidance and blessings, and we pray for the spiritual growth and vibrant ministry of these newly elevated parish and Congregations.
## _**10. Clergy**_
A total of 17 clergy members served in the diocese during the reporting year. We acknowledge and thank the achens and their families for their spiritual and pastoral care, dedicated service, and leadership in the respective parishes and congregations. In addition to their services in the parishes and congregations, they provide great leadership in various capacities at the zonal level.
We also acknowledge and thank the service of the following clergy who completed their term of office on 30th April 2024 and returned to India.

## _**11. The Diocesan Programs and activities**_
## **11.1. Diocesan Sunday**
The 22nd of September 2024 was observed as Diocesan Sunday. A pulpit exchange was arranged as part of the Diocesan Sunday observation. As part of the pulpit exchange, the clergy visited the parishes as arranged by the Diocesan Episcopa. The clergy briefed the parishes and congregations about the programs and activities of the Diocese and encouraged the parishes to actively participate in the various diocesan initiatives. A special order of worship was used for the worship services. It was a time of thanksgiving for God’s divine mercy for sustaining us as a worshipping community that cherishes the faith and practices of our fore parents and the time to intercede for the various development needs of the diocese.

## **11.2. Diocesan Inauguration Service and Public Meeting**
The official inauguration of the UK-Europe-Africa Diocese was held on 29th September 2024 at Bethel Convention Centre, Birmingham. The Inauguration Service commenced with Holy Qurbana officiated by His Grace Most Revd Dr Theodosius Mar Thoma Metropolitan. Rt Revd Dr Euyakim Mar Coorilos Suffragan Metropolitan, Rt Revd Dr Joseph Mar Barnabas Suffragan Metropolitan, Rt Revd Dr Isaac Mar Philoxenos Episcopa were co-celebrants along with our Diocesan Episcopa Rt Revd Dr. Joseph Mar Ivanios Episcopa. H.G. Most Revd Dr. Theodosius Mar Thoma Metropolitan Thirumeni presided over the public meeting, and the Most Revd Abraham Mar Stephanos Metropolitan (Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church), the Most Revd Mar Joseph Srampical (Syro-Malabar Church), Mr Sojan Joseph MP, Revd Prof Dr Mark D. Chapman were also blessed the occasion with their presence along with our bishops. The talent programs by the members of the auxiliary organisations added aroma to the inaugural meeting.
The clergy and more than 2500 delegates from the parishes and congregations participated in the one-day occasion that served to connect and reconnect with Mar Thoma members. Online Intercessory Prayer arranged for two months prior to the program on every Wednesday under the leadership of each centre of the Diocese. A committee chaired by Revd John Mathew Charivil executed the program on behalf of the COMPE Council. Revd Soju M Thomas and Mr P M Mathew served as the General Convenor and joint convenor, respectively. Various subcommittees, under the leadership of clergy and lay leaders of the Diocese, under the guidance of our Diocesan Episcopa Thirumeni, diligently worked to ensure the successful conduct of the program. Birmingham Hermon Mar Thoma Church helped in the local arrangements along with the various sub-committees.
## **11.3. Diocesan Christmas Carol**
The Diocesan Christmas carol service was held on 4th January 2024 at Coton Green Evangelical Church. Vice President, Revd John T. Thomas, presided over the service. Revd John Mathew C, Revd Thomas John and Revd Sanoj Babu Mathew led the service, and Revd Jacob P T welcomed the gathering. The carols were led by the Diocesan Choir and by the different parishes in the diocese. We were also blessed by a special message delivered virtually by our Diocesan Episcopa, whose words of encouragement and spiritual guidance added great meaning and joy to the celebration. Over 350 members participated in the service.
The diocese acknowledges and thanks the Vicar, the office bearers, and members of Hermon Mar Thoma Church, Birmingham for the local arrangements of the carol service. Revd Jacob P T served as the Chairman; Mr Thomas Abraham served as the Convenor and Mr Aji Chacko served as the programme coordinator.
## **11.4. Maramon Convention Stall**
The Diocese arranged the UK-Europe-Africa Diocese stall at the Maramon Convention2025 under the guidance of Rt Revd Dr Joseph Mar Ivanios Episcopa. It was an opportunity to connect with the friends of the Diocese, well-wishers and former

A bookmark that gives a short description of the Diocese was also distributed through the stall. The stall was managed by members of the Diocese who visited Maramon and by clergy. Special thanks to Revd Noble Abraham, Revd Deepak Daniel and the Council member Mr Bijo Kuruvilla Kurian, for managing the stall during the Maramon convention.
## **11.5. Website and Social Media**
The diocesan website (www.marthomaukeu.com) provides all relevant information on the structure, history, latest news, and updates of the diocese. It also provides information on the auxiliary organisations, parishes, and congregations in the Diocese. The website provides an online presence for Diocesan projects and programs and information about parishes and congregations. The Facebook page and WhatsApp channel also helped to speed up communication. Mr Jacob P Abraham was in charge of maintaining the website and keeping it up to date.
## **11.6. Clergy Fellowship Meeting**
Meetings of the clergy of the diocese were conducted online on the second Tuesday of every month. Evangelion studies were led by the achens during the sessions. Revd Jacob P.T. served as the convenor of the Clergy Fellowship.
## **11.7. Baskiomos Fellowship**
The Baskiomos Fellowship of the UK-Europe-Africa Diocese was inaugurated by our Diocesan Episcopa Rt Revd Dr Joseph Mar Ivanios Episcopa on 16th April 2024 via online. Online Meetings were conducted in the report year on 15th July 2024 and 15th October 2024. Baskiomos led the Singing Session, Intercessory Prayer and Bible Studies in the online meetings. Representatives of the Baskiomos of the Diocese participated in the virtual song for the program ‘Symfono Melodia ’ conducted at Puthencavu Mathilakom Ascension MT Church, Chenganoor on 1 March 2025. Mrs Blessy John Mathew and Mrs Soumya Merin Thomas coordinated the programs of Baskiomos Fellowship.
## **12. Charitable and Outreach Programs**
## **12.1 Light to Life Project**
We are grateful to share that the Light to Life mission, under the UK, Europe, and Africa Diocese, has completed two impactful years of ministry in partnership with HCDI. Through this effort, God has enabled us to shine His light into the lives of many in rural India. At present, we are running two active projects: one in Kalechiwadi, Pune, supporting 150 students, and a newly launched initiative in Marangadu, Kerala, aiding 110 children. Both centres focus on the holistic development of children going through various difficulties of life. This mission is made possible by the ongoing support of 250 committed donors from parishes throughout our diocese.
To encourage participation and ensure transparency, we hosted the online event Light to Life Meet 2025 on March 26, 2025. The gathering allowed our donors to have updates and to discuss the possibilities of the projects. We were blessed to have our Diocesan Episcopa, Rt. Revd PD. Dr. Joseph Mar Ivanios Episcopa led the session. Revd

Dr. Philip George, HCDI Director, shared valuable insights into the work being done, challenges encountered, and the impact of the initiative. The event drew nearly 100 attendees.
Looking ahead, we are happy to announce the upcoming launch of our third project in Wardha, India, starting in the 2025–26 academic year. This centre will initially support 120 children, with a long-term goal of reaching 250.
Along with the office bearers, Adv Jacob P. Abraham serves as the core committee, and Mr Anish P. Tom offers office support for the project. Parish promoters from each parish and congregation across UK- Europe -Africa Diocese work tirelessly along with the office bearers for the smooth running of this project. May this ministry continue to serve as a beacon of light for years to come.

## **12. 2. YOUMAT (Youth Ministry among Mar Thoma Students in UK &Europe)**
Youmat Student ministry under the initiative of Mar Thoma Church UK-Europe- Africa Diocese organised different activities during the period 2024-2025. This ministry provides pastoral care and guidance to home, overseas students and to the young migrants.
Youmat is operational with the support of the UK-Europe-Africa Diocesan Council, with the guidance of Rt. Revd Dr. Joseph Mar Ivanios Episcopa (Diocesan Episcopa), the Parish/congregation Vicars and Youth fellowship members. The students are engaged through phone and social media platforms and in person to ensure their well-being and progress, wherever they are placed. With the Director, a core team coordinating the South & North zones of the UK, along with volunteers, cater to the ministry of Youmat.
## **Activities organised in the year 2024 – 2025**
Student Data Collection Drive – A student data collection drive was initiated from the start of the year 2024-2025 through different media platforms. With this data, students are connected, and necessary pastoral support and contacts are passed on.
Diocese Inauguration Stall – Youmat opened up a special Diocese Inauguration stall during the UK-Europe- Africa Diocese Inauguration on 29th September 2024. Through this meet up point, home and overseas students were engaged and ensured support in different aspects of their student life. Youmat had its stall at the venue and special bookmarks were distributed to the special guests and attendees. As a token of love

and gratitude towards the graduates, keychains were awarded for their hard work from YouMat.
Student Orientation – Youmat team organised an orientation session named ‘UK & EU Student Life on 6th December, 2024 (7PM) via Zoom. This was to facilitate the students in various aspects like settling into a new context, towards acing academia, dissertation mastery, hearing from recent graduates and personal development journey. The session was led by Dr. Milu George (Lecturer, Computer Science, South East Technological University, Carlow, Ireland), Dr. Aneeta Ann John (Clinical Teaching Fellow, Great Western Hospital, Swindon) & Mr Jeevan George John (Endpoint Configuration Analyst, NHS Norfolk) who once excelled their professional and student life in this context. Around 60 students participated the session.
Student Meet Up – Under the leadership of Youmat and in association with Dublin Nazareth Mar Thoma Youth Fellowship and Mar Thoma Congregation, Dublin South Youths, a home and international student meet up was organised in Dublin on 22.12.24 at Kilmanagh Family Recreation Centre, Dublin 24. This was instrumental in identifying Mar Thoma Students who are involved in University life. Revd Varghese Koshy (Vicar of Dublin Nazareth MTC) & Revd Johnson M. John (Vicar of Switzerland Mar Thoma Congregation & PhD Student) gave leadership and support.
Youmat Bible Study – Youmat Bible study started on January 2025, which is conducted 2nd & 4th Tuesdays of every month. It was inaugurated on 14.01.25 by our Diocesan Episcopa who was the visionary behind this initiative. The regular participation of students and the faithful from different parts of the Diocese is appreciated.
Holy Communion in Bulgaria & Germany – This ministry was able to cater the students in Bulgaria and Germany by providing opportunities to attend Holy Communion and with Bible studies. Revd Johnson M. John and Revd Thomas Joseph takes the lead to support this initiative.
At this point, the efficient leadership and guidance of our Diocesan Episcopa, Rt. Revd PD. Dr. Joseph Mar Ivanios, along with the Diocesan Council, is commendable. Through Youmat Ministry, we were able to extend help and support to our students who were in desperate need. The respective parishes and congregations are giving blessed leadership for students who are involved in their phase of education. Youmat plans to expand its wings in the coming years locally, and special meet-ups with Holy Communion service are in the plan. May this ministry become a blessing to our students and to the Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar.

## _**13. Wayand Landslide Relief**_
The landslides in Chooralmala and Mundakkai areas of Wayanad in Kerala on 30th July 2024 claimed the lives of more than four hundred people, and many were hospitalised. Homes, educational institutions, and livelihoods have been lost. The region itself faced a state of obliteration. As per the Kalpanas of Mar Thoma Metropolitan and our Diocesan Episcopa to fulfil our Christian responsibility as partners in the initiative of the Church to care for those who have lost everything in this sad situation, to proclaim solidarity with them, and to respond positively to their needs, the parishes in our Diocese wholeheartedly co-operated in raising the necessary funds for the rehabilitation of the affected areas. We have received £ 24230 and remitted the same to the Mar Thoma Public Charitable Trust of the Sabha. We wholeheartedly appreciate and thank the members and parishes who participated in this initiative.
## _**14. Financial Support**_
The COMPE Council, with the help of Parishes and well-wishers, has provided financial assistance for performing posthumous rites on the departure of loved ones as per the application received.
## _**15. Organisations**_
## **15.1. Sunday School**
During the year, the total number of registered children reached 2,300 with approximately 500 teachers supporting the ministry across 23 Sunday School units. Considering all that we have done as the Diocesan Sunday School, all the roads on which God’s hand has guided us in the past year, let us give thanks for God’s goodness and faithfulness towards us.
## **Sunday School Academic Year and Curriculum**
In January 2025, a Diocesan level decision was made in consultation with all our Achens and Sunday School teachers to change the academic year from “September - July” to “January - November” in line with the Samajam academic year. Therefore, the 24/25 academic year, which commenced in September 2024, will be extended up to November 2025 with Diocesan Exams scheduled for the third Sunday in November.
The curriculum developed in conjunction with the North America Diocese was used as in the previous years for Nursery to Grade 12. The Mar Thoma Church Our Foundation and Vision book was also used to teach church history to our children for students who are in Grades 5 to 10. The Diocesan Team took the responsibility for printing and distributing the curriculum books and all other resource materials to all our Sunday Schools.

The question papers and marking schemes required for all classes were prepared and distributed to all Sunday Schools by the Diocesan Team. An Exam Board consisting of teachers represented from all our Sunday Schools prepared the exam pack and oversaw the exam process. Each Sunday School took responsibility for conducting the exams with the support of the Diocese and allocated invigilators. The evaluation was carried out centrally at the St Stephens Indian Orthodox Church, Birmingham, hosted by Hermon MTC, on Saturday, the 3rd August, and the results were published on 6th September.
## **Teachers Training**
The following teachers' training (teachers' retreats) events were organised at the Centre level during the year.
Midlands Centre teachers' retreat was held on 1st February 2025, hosted by Salem MTC at St James Church, West End, Southampton. Revd Reji Easow was the main leader for the programme.
London Centre teachers' retreat was hosted by Sinai MTC on 25th January 2025 at All Saints Church, Harrow, Revd Jacob P. T. was the main leader for this programme.
Europe regional teachers' retreat was on 21st September 2024, hosted by Dublin South Mar Thoma Congregation at Nazarene Community Centre, Dublin. Revd Sanoj Babu Mathew and Gincy Kochamma were the main leaders for the programme.
There was an online teachers' retreat also organised, hosted by the Europe Centre, on 10th January 2025. Revd Sanoj Babu Mathew led the sessions.
## **World Sunday School Celebration**
The World Sunday School Celebrations were organised at Centre level, on Saturday the 2nd November 2024 as follows.
North and Midlands Region: The North and Midlands Centres organised the event together, hosted by Hermon MTC, Birmingham at Coton Green Church, Tamworth, Staffordshire. Revd Abu Cherian was the lead for children’s sessions and Revd John P. Chacko and Mrs. Gincy Sanoj lead the teachers and parent’s sessions, respectively.
London Region: The London Centre event was hosted by St Peter's MTC, East London at the Campion School, Romford. Revd Thomas John, Revd Jacob P. T. and Mrs. Soumya Merin Varghese were the main leaders.
Europe Region: The Europe Centre programmes were hosted by Nazareth MTC, Dublin at St Maelruains Church, Dublin. Revd Stanley Mathew John and Revd Subin Mathew Parayil were the main leaders.
Altogether, some 800 children and 300 teachers/parents attended the events. During the events, prize awards were presented to all children who achieved A+ (95-100%) [plaques plus certificates] and all who achieved E to A (50-94%) [certificates] in the Diocesan exams 2024.

## **VBS Leaders Training Camp**
The Diocesan Sunday School organised a two-day camp, based on the VBS theme Jesus: The Life Architect (Ephesians 2:22) from Friday 7th to Saturday 8th March 2025, at the White Hall Education Centre, Buxton in the Peak District National Park in England. 32 delegates attended this camp. Revd Merin Mathew was the main lead for the programme. Trained leaders from this camp will be allocated to lead VBSs as Directors. A total of 25 VBSs planned for 2025.
The Diocesan Sunday School Team express their gratitude to Rt. Revd PD. Dr. Joseph Mar Ivanios Episcopa, Diocesan Sunday School President, for his guidance, vision and all the support that Thirumeni rendered during the year. ## **15.2. Youth Fellowship**
During the reporting year, which was also the year of transition to diocese, diocesanlevel youth activities were limited. The annual youth conference served as a vital platform for spiritual renewal and youth engagement across the Diocese.
The 6th Mar Thoma Youth Conference, UK-Europe, was held from Friday, 12th April to Sunday, 14th April 2024 at Cefn Lea, Dolfor, Newtown, SY16 4AJ, Wales. The conference was led by our Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Revd Dr. Joseph Mar Ivanios Episcopa, whose pastoral leadership and presence deeply enriched the gathering.
The theme of the conference was “Meeting God at Your Crossroads” based on Jeremiah 6:16, inviting participants to seek God’s guidance in moments of decision and transformation. The event featured engaging worship, practical workshops, and fellowship opportunities that encouraged young people to grow in faith and community.
In addition to the conference, parish youth fellowships across the Diocese actively organized their own local programmes and initiatives throughout the year. These included Bible studies, charity events, retreats, and youth-led worship services,

reflecting the continued commitment of the youth to live out their faith in local contexts.

## **15.3. Sevika Sangham**
The Mar Thoma Suvishesha Sevika Sanghom, the women’s wing of the UK-Europe Africa Diocese, actively participates in every aspect of diocesan programmes and provides guidance for Sevika Sanghom-related activities for all parishes.
The Diocesan Sevika Sanghom continues to hold an online chain prayer every fortnight on Fridays. This has been a source of great strength and courage in facing life’s challenges. We thank God for the continued active participation from members across all parishes and pray that this ministry will keep growing.
Sevika Sanghom Day was observed on the 8th of September 2024. On this special occasion, Sevika Sanghom members took an active role in their respective church services by delivering the sermon, reading the Bible portions, and assisting as lay leaders in worship. A special Sevika Sanghom Day song was presented during the service to mark the celebration.
All churches in our Diocese were encouraged and guided to send the Deppi Pirivu to the Central Sevika Sanghom in Thiruvalla, which supports important children’s ministry work and remains a key charitable focus for us.
This year, the Annual Conference was held on the 24th of August 2024 at Carmel Mar Thoma Church, Liverpool. We had wonderful participation from churches across the UK and Europe. The theme for the conference was "Hope for a Wounded World", and a meaningful message was delivered by Revd Thomas Joseph. It was truly a blessed and successful event, and we are already looking forward to the next conference.

Thomas Joseph. It was a keenly contested event, and it was clear that all teams had prepared with great dedication. The first prize was awarded to Dublin South M T Suvishesha Sevika Sanghom, followed by St Johns M T Suvishesha Sevika Sanghom, London, and the third prize went to Immanuel M T Suvishesha Sevika Sanghom, Cardiff.
Sevika Sanghom members also actively participated in the Diocesan Inauguration, taking up various roles, and contributed to the Diocesan Carol Service as well. In accordance with the Diocesan Episcopa’s circular, all centres have successfully elected their office bearers. We have conducted two General body meeting and 4 executive meeting in the financial years
We were blessed to have the leadership of Revd Thomas John Achen during the past financial year. As Achen has now been transferred, we had to bid him farewell. We continue to remember him in our prayers and thank God for the faithful ministry he provided during his time with us.

## **15.4. Edavaka Mission**
The Edavaka Mission actively conducted online intercessory prayer meetings every month, hosted by different parishes. We also participated in various diocesan programs and took up different responsibilities as part of our mission outreach. In preparation for the Diocesan Inauguration, the Edavaka Mission organised five preparatory prayer meetings, each led by one of the five centres. Additionally, we carried out house visits, organised fellowship gatherings, and engaged in personal evangelism across various parishes.

## **15.5. DSMC-Diocesan Choir**
We give glory to God for guiding the Diocesan Choir through another year of grace and growth. The choir has remained steadfast in its calling—to worship in spirit and in truth through music- and to serve as a unifying spiritual voice across our Diocese.
## **Diocesan Inauguration:**
The Diocesan Choir had the honour of leading the service and presenting special songs during the Diocesan Inauguration programme, which was held on 29th September 2024. It was a blessed and memorable occasion for all who participated. The 60-member choir, selected from various parishes across the Diocese and led by our Vice President, Revd Jacob P.T., was a great blessing and added deeper meaning to the entire service. The musical offering was warmly received and greatly contributed to the spiritual atmosphere of the programme.
## **Diocesan Carol Service:**
The Diocesan Carol Service, held in Birmingham on 4th January 2025, was a remarkable celebration of joy and unity. The Diocesan Choir took the responsibility for organising and executing the programme. Churches from various parts of the UK participated, making it a true diocesan gathering.
## **"Qolo d'Hasho" – The Hymn of Passion: A Liturgical Music Programme**
An online liturgical music training program was conducted during Passion Week to teach and familiarise our congregation with the hymns of the season. The program was well-received and appreciated by all who attended. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our Diocesan Bishop for initiating this meaningful idea.

## **Choir Auditions:**
The Diocesan Choir leadership actively supported several parishes in conducting and completing choir auditions. This initiative helped identify and nurture musical talents across the Diocese.
## **Diocesan Choir Organisation:**
We are currently in the process of forming a Diocesan-level choir organisation aimed at supporting and strengthening parish choirs in various capacities. This initiative will focus on training, resource sharing, and fostering fellowship among choirs throughout the Diocese.
## **DSMC Affiliation:**
We are pleased to report that most of the parish choirs in the Diocese are now registered with the Department of Sacred Music and Communication (DSMC).
We express our heartfelt gratitude to our Diocesan Bishop for his prayerful guidance and unwavering support in all the activities of the Diocesan Choir. The Mar Thoma church UK-Europe-Africa Diocese is a full member of Churches Together in England and Churches Together in Britain and Ireland. Revd Thomas George represented the Zone in the CTE and CTBI. He attended various programs organised by CTE and CTBI.
Ecumenism is not a call to uniformity, but an invitation to unity in Christ. As members of the One Body, the Church universal, we are drawn together in mission, worship, and witness, while continuing to honour and uphold the distinct theological beliefs, liturgical traditions, and spiritual practices that shape our identity. For the Mar Thoma Church, rooted in the apostolic faith and reformed heritage of the Malankara tradition, ecumenism is an expression of obedience to Christ’s prayer “that they may all be one” (John 17:21). It reflects our commitment to work alongside other churches in love and mutual respect, seeking common ground in the essentials of the Gospel, while celebrating the richness of diversity in form and expression. Engaging in ecumenical dialogue and fellowship allows us to grow in understanding, build bridges of reconciliation, and collectively respond to the needs of our time. It also strengthens our own witness, reminding us that while our paths may differ, our destination is shared. In this spirit, our participation in ecumenical initiatives during 2024–2025 reflects our desire to walk together with others in faith, without compromising the unique voice and vision God has entrusted to our church.

## **1. Autumn Enabling Group Meeting**
The Autumn Enabling Group Meeting 2024 was held on 10–11 October 2024 at The Hayes Conference Centre, Swanwick, Derbyshire. The theme for the session that focused on the Church’s collective commitment to racial justice was Racial Justice and Inclusion. Key sessions included:
- A theological reflection led by Richard Reddie, Director of Justice and Inclusion at CTBI.
- Presentation by Sharon Prentis, Deputy Director of the Racial Justice Unit (Church of England).
- Active listening circles and breakout groups facilitated by the CTE Racial Justice Working Group, allowing participants to share lived experiences and strategies for inclusive practice.
This meeting reinforced CTE’s strategic aim to embed racial justice within the ecumenical mission and has inspired local action points for further implementation.
## **2. Ecumenical Day Retreat**
The CT Shire & Soke Executive organised a day retreat open to church leaders and members from various denominations at Launde Abbey, Leicestershire, on 22 October 2024, based on the theme Personal Renewal and Spiritual Discernment. Jenny Bond (Former Principal Officer for Intermediate Ecumenism at CTE), a trained Ignatian Retreat Leader and Spiritual Director, led the day through prayerful reflection and spiritual exercises focused on deepening the ecumenical journey. The quiet setting and reflective tone provided space for spiritual rejuvenation and cross-denominational bonding.
## **3. CTE Forum 2025**
CTE Forum 2025 was held at The Hayes Conference Centre, Swanwick, Derbyshire, on 17–19 March 2025, based on the Theme: Celebrating Unity – Reflecting on 1700 Years since Nicaea, a significant triennial event that brought together over 300 delegates representing national Member Churches, Intermediate Bodies, and Networks in Association. Highlights included:
- Keynote address by Revd Dr. Susan Durber, President of the World Council of Churches
- Presentations and responses from CTE Presidents
- A vibrant Forum Marketplace featuring exhibits from partner charities and networks
- Daily communal worship and thematic seminars focusing on mission, unity, and justice
The Forum provided opportunities to deepen ecumenical partnerships and engage in theological reflection, particularly in light of the historical milestone of the Nicene anniversary.
The reporting period has seen active participation in key ecumenical initiatives that promote unity, justice, and renewal. These events have strengthened relationships and provided valuable insights for continued collaboration across the UK–Europe- Africa Diocese of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church.

## **17. Constitution Drafting**
The committee appointed by the COMPE Council the previous year to revise the current CIO constitution and COMPE bylaws, convened multiple virtual and in-person sessions this year as well and provided necessary assistance for the constitution and bylaw amendment. The committee was chaired by the Rt. Revd Dr. Joseph Mar Ivanios Episcopa. Members of the drafting committee include Revd John Mathew Charivil, Dr. Zac Varghese, Mr P.M. Mathew, Mr Thomas Abraham, Mr Noble J. Mathew, and Mr Jacob P. Abraham. We appreciate the significant effort made by the committee members.
## **18. Finance**
The contributions from the parishes and congregations, members, and well-wishers are the major income source of the Diocese. Detailed financial statements are given separately. We remember with gratitude all parishes and congregations and all those who contributed generously to the functioning of the Diocese, including charitable and humanitarian activities.

## **20. Conclusion**
As the newly established UK-Europe-Africa Diocese of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church continues to grow, we find ourselves at a critical juncture. The increasing migration of our members to countries across Europe presents both a blessing and a challenge. In a time when many are drifting away from the influence of Christianity, we, as a Church, are called to respond with clarity, courage, and compassion.
Now more than ever, we must focus our efforts on nurturing the faith of our future generations. God has graciously provided us with a spiritual heritage through the Church. It is our duty to bring the life and light of the Church into our homes and into the hearts of our children.
We are not without guidance. Our ancestors have walked this path of faith before us, through trials and transformation, and have left us a rich tradition. By thoughtfully interpreting their wisdom in the context of today’s world, we can ensure that the faith remains a living, breathing force for good in the lives of our young people.
This mission requires planning, creativity, and above all, a deep commitment to Christ. As a Diocese, we are called to:
- Strengthen faith formation among our children and youth.
- Develop contextual worship and teaching that resonates with our new cultural environments.
- Encourage family-based spiritual practices.
- Build community support systems that nurture belonging and purpose.

## **FINANCIAL REVIEW STATEMENT**
The trustees present their annual report and Financial Statements for the year ended 31st March 2025. The Financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in Note 1 to the Accounts and comply with the Charity’s governing document, the Charities Act 2011 and the Charities statement of Recommended Practice, (FRS102).
Detailed Income, Expenditure, Balance Sheet, Auditors Report and Independent Examiner’s report are attached with this document. “We solemnly declare that during the financial reporting year “1st April 2024 to 31st March 2025” there were no serious incidents or matters affecting the administration, finance, and accounting practice to the charity. We make this declaration in accordance with section 169 of the Charity Act 2011.”
## Going Concern
The charity operations have seen a significant growth due to increased membership numbers driven by migration. The operations now also cover the region of Africa.
Fundraising events and charitable activities have been well supported by the members. The charity trustees reviewed the financial position, and its cash flow based on current commitment and the trustees are fully satisfied that the cash generated is sufficient to enable the charity to support the activities for the next twelve months.
The trustees are continuously monitoring the situation to ensure the charity responds to the challenges and to continue to support various activities.

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts.
It is our responsibility to:
- examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act,
- to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and
- to state whether particular matters have come to our attention
## **Basis of independent examiner’s statement**
Our examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
## **Independent examiner’s statement**
In connection with our examination, no material matters have come to our attention which gives us cause to believe that in, any material respect:
- the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or
- the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
- the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
We have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

**Report of the Independent Examiner to the trustees on the accounts of the Charity for the year ended 31 Mar 2025**
I report on the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 March 2024 which have been prepared in accordance with the Charities Act 2011 (the Act) and with the Financial Reporting Standard 102 (effective January 2015) adapted to meet the needs of unincorporated organisations, as modified by the Statement of Recommended Practice for Accounting and Reporting issued by the Charity Commission for England & Wales, effective January 2015 (The SORP), under the historical cost convention and the accounting policies set out in the notes of the accounts.
## **Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner**
The Charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements. The trustees are satisfied that the audit requirement of Section 144(1) of the Charities Act 2011 (the Act) does not apply, and that there is no requirement in the governing document or constitution of the Charity for the conducting of an audit. As a consequence, the trustees have elected that the financial statements be subject to independent examination.
Having satisfied myself that the charity is not subject to audit, and is eligible for independent examination, it is my responsibility to: -
- a) examine the accounts under section 145 of the Act;
- b) to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act; and;
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
## **Basis of opinion and scope of work undertaken**
I conducted my examination in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners for England & Wales in relation to the conducting of an independent examination, referred to above. An independent examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the Charity and of the accounting systems employed by the Charity and a comparison of the financial statements presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the financial statements and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning such matters. The purpose of the examination is to establish as far as possible that there have been no breaches of the Charities legislation and that the financial statements comply with the SORP, on a test basis, of evidence relevant to the amounts and disclosures in the financial statements.

The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and information supplied by the trustees in the course of the examination is not subjected to audit tests or enquiries, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the financial statements, and in particular, I express no opinion as to whether the financial statements give a true and fair view of the affairs of the charity, and my report is limited to the matters set out in the statement below.
I planned and performed my examination so as to satisfy myself that the objectives of the independent examination are achieved and before finalising the report I obtain written assurances from the trustees of all material matters.
Subject to the limitations upon the scope of my work as detailed above, in connection with my examination, I can confirm that:-
This is a report in respect of an examination carried out under section 145 of the Act and in accordance with any directions given by the Commission under subsection (5)(b) of that section which are applicable;
and that no matter has come to my attention in connection with my examination which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements :-
- to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act 2011;
- when preparing accounts on an accrual’s basis under s132 of the Charities Act 2011, to prepare financial statements which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Act and the 2015 Regulations setting out the form and content of charity accounts;

## **1 Accounting Policies**
## _**Policies relating to the production of the accounts**_
## **Basis of preparation and accounting convention**
The accounts have been prepared on the accruals basis, under the historical cost convention, and in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard 102 (effective January 2015) and 'The FRS 102 Statement of Recommended Accounting Practice 2015', (The SORP 2015), and in accordance with all applicable law in the charity's jurisdiction of registration, except that the charity has prepared the financial statements in accordance with the FRS 102 SOP 2015 in preference to the previous SORP, The SORP 2005, which has been withdrawn, notwithstanding the fact that the extant statutory regulations, the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 refer explicitly to the SORP 2005. This has been done to accord with current best practice.
## **Risks and future assumptions**
These accounts have been prepared on a going concern basis which assumes the charity have the ability to continue its operations as a going concern.
## **Policies relating to categories of income and income recognition**
## **Nature of income**
Donations, Gifts, Subscription, Membership fees
All income is accounted for gross, before deducting any related fees or costs.
## **Membership Subscriptions**
The income and any associated Gift Aid or other tax refund from a membership subscription received by the charity in the nature of a gift, is accounted for on the same basis as a donation
## _**Policies relating to expenditure on goods and services provided to the charity.**_
## **Recognition of liabilities and expenditure**
A liability, and the related expenditure, is recognised when a legal or constructive obligation exists as a result of a past event, and when it is more likely than not that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement, and when the amount of the obligation can be measured or reliably estimated
Liabilities arising from future funding commitments and constructive obligations, including performance related grants, where the timing or the amount of the future expenditure required to settle the obligation are uncertain, give rise to a provision in the accounts, which is reviewed at the accounting year end. The provision is increased to reflect any increases in liabilities, and is decreased by the utilisation of any provision within the period, and reversed if any provision is no longer required. These movements are charged or credited to the respective funds and activities to which the provision relates.
## **Volunteers**
In accordance with the SORP, and in recognition of the difficulties in placing a monetary value on the contribution from volunteers, the contribution of volunteers is not included within the income of the charity.
## **Policies relating to assets, liabilities and provisions and other matters.**
## **Tangible fixed assets**
Tangible fixed assets are measured at their original cost value, or subsequent revaluation, or donated as described above. Cost value includes all costs expended in bringing the asset into its intended working condition.
Depreciation has been provided at the following rates in order to write off the assets to their anticipated residual value on estimated useful lives. Office Equipment 20% straight line Plant and Machinery 33% straight line Furniture and Fixtures 18% straight line **Debtors** Debtors are measured at their recoverable amounts at the balance sheet date. **Creditors and provisions**
The creditors at the year are the Bank towards Mortgage and suplliers whose bills are yet to be due for payments.

## **2 Liability to taxation**
As a registered charity, the organisation is exempt from income and corporation tax to the extent that its income and gains are applied towards the charitable objects of the charity and for no other purpose. Value Added Tax is not recoverable by the charity, and is therefore included in the relevant costs in the Statement of Financial Activities.
## **3 Winding up or dissolution of the charity**
If upon winding up or dissolution of the charity there remain any assets, after the satisfaction of all debts and liabilities, the assets represented by the accumulated fund shall be transferred to some other charitable body or bodies having similar objects to the charity.
