So as to develop their capabilities that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society.

Our original application for charitable status stated:

We run leadership/life skills programmes using sport (rugby, football and cricket) as the vehicle for the learning and development process. We invite volunteers to support the projects and we base our work on local organisations - schools, church, other NGOs - to help with logistics and to ensure lasting impact. In each country we are building a cohort of coaches and facilitators to assist and, eventually, run the programmes.

The Covid19 pandemic has significantly and adversely impacted on the charity’s work this financial year with travel prohibitions and a variety of lockdowns for the majority of the year.

A donation was made to Church of America Ceylon Mission for sponsorship of Sri Lankan students attending university.

Grant making. We have had applications for grants to support charitable ventures. Any funds must be used to support projects aligned with the charity’s purpose.

Volunteers are central to the Small Acts of Kindness philosophy. We have no full or part-time employed staff and rely on volunteers to run all our projects and the administration of the charity.

Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main The pandemic prevented our charity from undertaking its normal achievements of the charity activities. A donation was made to the Church of America Ceylon during the year Mission through Tamil Aid to support the work they do enabling students to attend university.

Despite the pandemic the group ‘Lead to Lead’ in Sri Lanka continue to initiate and run projects in the local community and this is now selffunding.

One of the trustees continued to support small projects in Rwanda to enable the work to continue but this has been on a personal basis rather than through Small Acts of Kindness.

We applied to a government fund for small charities focusing on overseas development for a grant of £40,000 to support an Inspire project in Rwanda. As the bid reached the final stage of review, the fund was closed down as a result of the impact of Covid on the economy.
