Merseyside Sudanese Community Association TRUSTEES' REPORT for the Year ended 30th September 2022
NARRATIVE INFORMATION
Merseyside Sudanese Community Association is an independent registered charity, structured as a Charitable
Incorporated Organisation (CIO) that works with all the diaspora Sudanese community in Merseyside.
ACTIVITIES
This report covers the second full year of operation. During the previous year we delivered an educational project for our children, which we partly operated from our former premises with the project running in Crawford House - with funding obtained in the previous financial year from the Community Fund’s Awards for All [AfA] programme.
During the year reported on here, we were successful in obtaining a second Community Fund Awards for All grant for a project – desired by and co-designed with our women’s sub-group, Empowering Sudanese Women in Merseyside - within the wider UK society; but unfortunately, we were unable to start this until the end of the period, due to the lock-down rules imposed under the Covid-19 pandemic. The details and success of this project will be reported in our next Trustees’ Annual Report.
Other than the AfA grant, we were successful in obtaining financial support from Liverpool City Council, under
covid-19 arrangements; subs were generally not collected during this period.
The group continued to meet, as far as possible due to the pandemic, to provide support to community members.
FUTURE PLANS
Our immediate plans are to seek further resources for our children and young people, to provide sports and social facilities, that others can sometimes take for granted, whilst they build up their self-confidence to take part in the wider society.
