## **Elworth Methodist Church Annual report 2022 – 2023** We have had a greater opportunity this year to build on our work within the community as a greater use has been made of the new coffee lounge which was reopened after the end of the Covid lockdown. Alongside regular visitors there has been a more positive interest in the activities that happen by the local community. As well as providing a warm space and refreshments we have included various activities e.g. craft, quiz, board games, nostalgia afternoons which are all open to everyone. There are monthly quiz evenings and a monthly local walking group. We continue to make all our events open to everyone with payments by donation . Despite a vast increase in the cost of utilities members have worked together to raise the necessary funds to meet our expenses. Events have been varied and included this year an artistic representation of a local story – The Moston Dragon. We have worked together with the local station committee and with the local park committee including a joint Christmas event with carols in the park followed by refreshments at the church. Our annual Remembrance service was well attended and over that weekend we were able to send financial support to Help for Heroes & The British legion poppy appeal. At Christmas we supported 'Action for children' charity and the 'Christmas shoe box' appeal. We have continued to support Sandbach food bank with our harvest donations. The weekly newsletter is now reaching members of the local community as well as church members giving information about events being held and offering a warm welcome to all. Sunday mornings offer a variety of styles of worship and there have been occasional afternoon tea services. Our aim is to continue to build on our work in the community.
