## **Achievements and performance**

mentor of Brhaddhvani UK visited the UK
between October 2022 to January 2023 from
India to conduct workshops and master
classes for the students registered at
Brhaddhvani UK charity.
On 29th October 2022 and 7thJanuary 2023,
Divyanand Caird, founder of Brhaddhvani
UK arranged a concert and workshop on
Vina & Voice by Dr.Subramanian for the
students and the wider community in
Orpington and around South East London.
The workshops were held both online and in
person to make it accessible for as many
students across the UK.
On 14thOctober 2023 Brhaddhvani UK
publicly launched its community initiative
BRHAD-KALA to promote upcoming talent
and professional musicians to perform and
share their knowledge for the benefit of the
wider public. The format of the event was a
double bill concert by upcoming artists
Aparna Raghuraman on the violin and Rishi
Ramesh on Mridangam followed by
established professional artists from the UK,
Mr. Vamshikrishna Vishnudas on Vocal,
Balu Raghuraman on Violin and Prathap
Ramachandra on Mridangam. The event
was success where an audience of nearly
150 attended and many of them had not
been exposed to classical music before. It
was an engaging experience while feedback
was positive wanting more such initiatives in
the future.
The founder-director of the charity Mr.
Divyanand Caird has been teaching and
advocating for South Asian music to be part
of the curriculum at schools in the UK. Since
the 2022 Divyanand has been teaching
Carnatic music at Nelson Primary School in
Newham borough through Newham Music in
partnership with PRSSV Institute of
Performing Arts and Heritage. This initiative
has enabled the objective of bringing global
music and diversity in music education in the
UK. The charity was instrumental in
procuring string instruments (Vinas and
Tamburas) and percussion instruments
(Kanjiras) at a subsidised price for Nelson
Primary School in Newham Borough. The
work at schools in ongoing and expanding
further.|
