The trustees present their report and accounts for the year to 31st March 2024. The trustees have opted, under section 133 of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Charities Act’), to prepare receipts and payments accounts

The Trustees have considered the Charity Commission guidance on public benefit and consider that the activities of the charity meet its charitable objectives and provide a benefit to the public.

Achievement and Performance Charitable activities

The Rockministry Hub Café is a vital community support venue, hosting local Christian events and providing practical help such as food, lunches, and white goods funded through Acts 435. It offers inspiring Men’s breakfasts, church meetings, and Christmas events. It’s a storage space for resources and a venue for partnering with other Christian organisations. One of its most exciting aspects is the connections and supportive relationships developed. The Gospel is shared through one-on-one and group conversations, changing lives and building confidence in individuals’ Christian faith. This empowers them to reach out and pray for the sick. Practical support, free food, and drinks are freely given by a committed group of volunteers.

The youth drop in isn’t happening now. It was popular to begin with, but the support wasn’t there, so it was decided to close it.

Leadership and Volunteers

The Rockministry leadership team, guided by pastors Brioney and Peter Simpson, follows their faith and trust in the Lord. We support families and individuals with terminal illnesses, long-term conditions, and concerns about the cost of living. By providing ongoing emotional, spiritual, and practical support, we bring people into a loving, caring family. We walk alongside individuals in their daily challenges and successes, including those suffering from bereavement.

Our pastors and leaders receive pastoral development and training from the International Network of Churches, visiting their headquarters in Brighton. As an independently governed charity, we effectively lead and support the Rockministry team and volunteers. Using Growth Track, we enhance trust and faith within our volunteers, building their skills and preparing them for greater leadership roles within the church community. Every individual is important and unique as we support each other through various life situations, including parenting, marriage, and employment. Together, we do life as a family.

This year, Rockministry received donations through weekly memberships from church members and others devoted to supporting the ministry financially. As we aim to pay our pastors for their incredible work, we are seeking core funding this year.

We continue to enjoy wonderful family fun activities and farm days on private farmland. These events, such as church family lunches, activity days, and providing counselling and mentoring, help develop relationships. Mentoring empowers people to find positive wisdom and promote their gifts, skills, strengths, and abilities. Volunteers grow and develop in their faith as they support local church community activities and projects.

Rockministry actively networks with charities like Care for the Family, Acts 435, Northern Devon Food Bank, and Family Holiday Association. We use various training programs supported by social services and professionals to support parents and children in families that have experienced trauma, need teenage support, or require anger management.

With the closing of the Methodist building, we have begun leasing a new building in Bideford. Collaborating with a local community hub in East the Water, we have welcomed new families and individuals, continuing to build the loving family community of Rockministry.

Prayer Meetings and Worship Gatherings

We gather throughout the week for prayer meetings, witnessing how God answers our prayers and guides us, strengthening our faith, friendships, and family bonds as we support each other.

Every Sunday, we hold services where we worship, grow together, and train Rockministry members to become leaders. We seek to follow Christ daily and learn through biblical conversations and teachings, with a Sunday School dedicated to the children.

Financial review

The charity is dependent on donations £23,976 (2023: £42,133).

Total income for the period was £24,976 (2023: £46,298) and expenditure £33,338 (2023: £45,980) leaving a deficit of £8,362 (2023: Surplus £308)

We have a Rockministry hub café facility and have Sunday services where it is well attended with families and children. We have maintained and paid all our outgoings and have invested in our equipment and resources to be able to have socials and meals together and have an equipped resource for the community to use.

We have a Rockministry Hub Café facility where we have provided hundreds of meals and drinks to the community. We have been leasing a Methodist Chapel in the community where we have held our Sunday Worship and Word services and other events. We have invested in our maintenance programmes and upgraded our leased buildings. We have continued to upgrade and invest in our resources and equipment.

Reserves policy

We have a policy not to borrow finance so where possible we stick to a very tight budget; we do not hold reserves currently as we do not have the finance coming in to do this. We plan to hold a reserve fund of three months for day to day bills coming in.

Unrestricted cash reserves at the year-end were £1,173

Structure, Governance and Management

Governing document

Rockministries is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation registered on 25[th] October 2017. The charity associated with the International Network of Churches (INC) but is governed independently. New members are elected by the existing trustees to the board after nomination and interview.

Financial reports are presented to the board at each meeting. Minutes of each meeting are taken and subsequently distributed.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Rockministries

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of Rockministry (the Trust) for the year to 31[st] March 2024.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner's statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or

  2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or

  3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I confirm that there are no other matters to which your attention should be drawn to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

1. Accounting Policies

Basis of preparing the financial statements and assessment of going concern

These accounts have been prepared on a receipts and payments basis as permitted by law for smaller charities.

The trustees consider that there are no material uncertainties about the charity's ability to continue as a going concern.

2. Trustee remuneration and benefits

None of the trustees have been paid any remuneration or received any benefits from an employment with the charity or a related entity.
