OBJECTIVE
- The objective of the community, including its umbrella Ladies and Youth Committee, shall be:

- 3.1 To further or benefit the residents of Ashford Nepalese community and the neighbourhood, without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating together the said residents and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents.

3.2 Establish the identity of our Nepalese community within the ethnic minority communities within Ashford and integrate into the general society as responsible and caring citizens with the view of supporting and improving Ashford and provide assistance in liaison with the Borough Council and help to improve the social status of all.
3.3 Strive for the benefit of all Nepalese residents in the Community and the local community by identifying, profiling, learning and sharing the community members’ talent, skills and knowledge with the general public to promote harmony and co-existence and creating civic awareness.
3.4 Maintain a close link with Nepal such that the Nepalese community in the UK preserves its national and cultural identity to benefit all Nepalese children and to teach and lead them in the right path.
3.5 Organise and hold shared social events with and within the wider Community to cultivate and maintain social cohesion.
3.6 Prepare a community profile and identity the needs and prospects of the Community and seek assistance from the Ashford Borough Council, Emergency Services and other government agencies, where necessary.
3.7 In furtherance of the above objectives but not otherwise, the trustees shall have power to establish or secure the establishment of a community centre and to maintain or manage or co-operate with any statutory authority in the maintenance and management of such a centre for activities promoted by the charity in furtherance of the above objectives.

The annual event attracted a higher turnout than anticipated, with Spana Roka Magar attending as the Special guest and Hari Budha Magar MBE as the Chief Guest of the evening.
Sapana Roka Magar, who was listed among BBC’s 100 Inspiring and Influential Women worldwide in 202 and Hari Budha Mager MBE is a Nepalse double above-knee amputee and a record-breaking mountaineer.
The event was coordinated by Januka Pun (Vice-Chairperson) and proved to be highly memorable and further enhanced by a performance from “The Voice of Nepal”.

Event : Annual General Meeting (AGM) Date : Saturday, 11 May 2024 Venue : St Francis Church Hall Ashford
The 1st AGM of the 10th Executive Committee was held from 11:00 to 18:00 hrs. The meeting was conducted by the General Secretary, Ram Prasad Limbu, and commenced with a welcome speech by Vice Chairperson Mohan Limbu, followed by a candle-lighting ceremony led by the Chairpersons of the Main, Ladies, and Youth Committees.
A minute’s silence was observed in memory of the late Ben Kumar Ashami.
Certificates of Appreciation were presented to Rabin Pariyar, Dewman Lawati, Store 93 Ltd and donors who had contributed £500 or more to the “Dream Project.”
Advisor Seru Maden was also felicitated for his outstanding professional achievement.
Updates on PPWC activities were provided, committee reports and financial statements were presented, and the annual event forecast was outlined.
The meeting concluded with closing remarks from the Chairpersons of the Youth, Ladies and Main Committees, with thanks extended to all attendees.

The visit provided an informative and engaging insight into the UK Parliament and was enjoyed by all attendees. The day concluded with a shared meal in Chinatown, further strengthening camaraderie and community bonds.
On behalf of the community, Chairperson Dammar Limbu expressed sincere appreciation to the coordinator for his commitment and efforts in making the visit a success.

Around 400 people attended the programme, including Rt Hon Damian Green MP, MP candidate Sojan Joseph, Cllr Paul Bartlett, GPF Chairman Bhimraj Tumhangphe, Shreeprasad Limbu founder of the Sunday Run, staff from the Royal British Legion, and other distinguished guests.
The programme began at 10:00 am with a welcome address by Assistant Secretary Dewman Lawati followed by activities led by the coordinator.

The 2nd Kent Volleyball Tournament was held on Saturday, 27 July 2024, successfully bringing together youth teams from across the UK. The event was organised with the dedication and support of Sagarmatha Youths, in partnership with Kent Volleyball Club, a collaboration that has been growing since 2023.
Baglung Volleyball Club UK emerged as tournament winners, defeating Mona-Myagdi Volleyball Club UK, who finished as runners-up.
Individual awards were presented to outstanding players, including Shankar Thapa (Best Player), Krishna Khatri (Best Spiker), Buddha Tamang (Best Setter), Sahil Makhim (Best Emerging Player), Rabin Pun (Best Defender), Apson Ghotame (Best Blocker), and Rajesh Chhantyal (Best Coach).
Chairperson Dammar Limbu congratulated all winners and participants, and thanked the organisers, sponsors, and supporters, including Club Founder Narayan Pun, Club President Bhim Rai, GPF Chairperson Bhimraj Tumbahangphe, and SGNCAK Youth Chairperson Shikhar Limbu, for contributing to the event’s success.

The programme was conducted by Secretary Bimala Limbu, with food and refreshments arranged by Chief Vice Chair Mohan Limbu and Treasurer Bikash Limbu. Chairperson Dammar Limbu concluded the event with his sincere thanks, appreciating the MP, attendees, and organisers for making the event a success.

The event was coordinated by Vice Chairperson Charan Rai, along with the Sports Secretarial team— Padam Yongyang (Sports Secretary) and Rabin Pariyar (Assistant Sports Secretary). The Mayor of Ashford, Cllr Lyn Suddard, accompanied by her consort Cllr Charles Suddard, graced the event as Chief Guest.

Chairperson Singk pledged full support from himself and the community for the campaign. During the programme, £470 in cash and NPR 522,131 in pledges were collected. The evening concluded with a dinner attended by Ashford Borough Council Mayor Lyn Suddards where both mayors exchanged experiences.

Sagarmatha Gurkha/Nepalese Community Ashford Kent (SGNCAK) took part in environmental conservation work at Homestone Wood, Dover, for the first time on 18 August 2024 and latest was on 1[st] of February 2025. Community volunteers contributed their time and effort to tree-planting activities, helping to enhance the local environment for generations to come.
Volunteers planted field maples, hawthorns, blackthorns, and fruit trees along farmers’ field borders, contributing to long-term environmental sustainability. Participants described the experience as rewarding and enjoyable, combining meaningful work with shared food, drinks, and friendly activities.
Through this initiative, SGNCAK has so far received a total of £450 from Homestone Wood towards the community fund, highlighting the positive impact of the community’s environmental engagement.
