I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. The event had split into two phases, formal and entertainment, and were led by the General Secretary (Ram Prasad Limbu) and the Chairperson Youth (Shikhar Limbu) respectively. The programme started with lightening the candles on stage by the Chairperson Dammar Limbu and the Chief Guest - the President of the NRNAUK, Prem Gaha Magar who talked about the “continuation of the Nepalese-Citizenship for nonresident Nepalese and the work he has been committed to” while he delivered his speech at the event. **TAR** **2023-2024** 3 14 2023 S￿9￿r orn hf TAR 2023-2024 **Event :** Coronation Celebration **Date :** Saturday, 6 May 2023 **Venue :** Victoria Park Ashford Kent A live screening of the Ceremony took place in Victoria Park, Ashford Kent and it was followed by performances from local groups and individuals. Sagarmatha Gurkha/Nepalese Community Ashford, Kent participated in the event with the Kelang and Sakela dances – Limbu and Rai family cultural dances respectively. The Chairperson, Dammar Limbu, extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Cultural Secretary Om Magar; Basundhara Rai Vice-Chairperson (President KRY Ashford), Sodip Thopra President KYC Ashford Branch and their team; and Shikhar Limbu Chairperson Youth for their help and support to coordinate the Natch Teams for the event. **TAR** **2023-2024** 5 **Event :** Welcome and Farewell Party **Date :** Sunday, 21 May 2023 **Venue :** Everest Inn, Ashford The event was held at the Everest Inn, one of well-known restaurants, at 7 pm on Sunday 21 May 2023 and was attended by the incoming and outgoing executive members of the Main, Ladies and Youth Committees, and advisors - right after the completion of the Executive Committee Meeting at the Community Office. The main aim of the event was to cultivate and maintain a cohesion among the newly elected Executive Members. **TAR** **2023-2024** 6 As a customary practice of the community, all outgoing executive members would be presented with a “Certificate of Appreciation” as a recognition for their contribution to the community. Normally, newly elected Chairperson would present those certificates but not to those who would still be serving committee in the same or different post. The newly elected Chairperson of the 10[th] Executive Committee, Dammar Limbu, presented the certificate to those who served the 9[th] Executive Committee. The Chairperson of the 9[th] Executive Committee, Kaprasad Chhantyal, also awarded the certificate to the outgoing 8[th] Executive Committee Members as the community was unable to organize any event due to the COVID-19 restriction. The city 15 bcs1 kii()wn a4 the PAradi5t ot fi TAR 2023-2024 In Ihe ￿ll[h b¢stenJ p4 TAR 2023-2024 |**Event**|**:**|Two Nepalese cyclists on world tour| |---|---|---| |**Date**|**:**|Friday, 16 June 2023| |**Venue**|**:**|Community Office, Ashford Town| Community gathered to receive the two Nepalese world cyclists, who had just arrived UK as a part of their ongoing journey, at the Community’s office on the 16[th] of June 2023. The cyclists, Ajay Mishra and Bhagat Khatri, started their world tour on bicycle at the age of 21 and 22 years, respectively, from Bhaktapur Gattaghar in 2004. Since then, they had been to 104 countries. On behalf of the community, the Chairperson Dammar Limbu presented them Khadas and a cheque of £300 as a token of love. **TAR** **2023-2024** 10 **Event :** Late Sadiksha Tamang - Donation **Date :** Wednesday, 28 June 2023 **Venue :** Community Office, Ashford Town Community raised £801 for the bereaved family of late Sadikshya Tamang. Late Sadikshya Tamang, daughter of Kumar Thokar Tamang (social worker and Guru Lama), had arrived UK for her higher education last December 2022. She was admitted to Milton hospital in May as she had suffered from pneumonia and passed, sadly, away on the 10[th] of May 2023 at the age of 21, and her family wanted her body repatriated back to Nepal. The community managed to collect £801 under the coordination of the Chief Vice Mohan Limbu after receiving an appeal letter from the President of NRNA UK Prem Gaha Magar. On behalf of the Sagarmatha Gurkha/Nepalese Community Ashford Kent (SGNCAK), Chairperson Dammar Limbu presented a cheque to Rechard Gurung NRNA UK ICC Member in the Community office on the 28[th] of June 2023, who would hand over the funds to the bereaved family. The Chairperson expressed his gratitude to all members of the community for their contribution that would offer a solace to her family at this difficult time and wished her departed soul rest in peace and expressed his sincere condolences to the grief family. **TAR** **2023-2024** 11 **Event :** First Kent Volleyball Tournament **Date :** Sunday, 16 July 2023 **Venue :** Great Chart, Ashford The event was organised by Shikhar Limbu, Chairperson of the Youth Committee and his team, with the cooperation of the Kent Volleyball Club on Sunday 16 July 2023 which took place at Great Chart Playing Field, Ashford, Kent from 9 am to 7 pm. The event started with lightening of candles by the Chairperson of the Sagarmatha Gurkha/Nepalese Community Ashford Kent and the Kent Volleyball Club, Dammar Limbu and Narayan Pun respectively, followed by playing national anthems of Nepal and UK. The competition was very tough with a high volume of spectators. Greenwich Volleyball Players A managed to bag the winner trophy and Kent Volleyball Club A was the runner up. **TAR** **2023-2024** 12 **Event :** Ashford Cleaning Day 2023 **Date :** Sunday, 16 July 2023 **Venue :** Victoria Park, Ashford One of the Community’s annual events, “Ashford Cleaning Day”, coordinated by the Asst PR, Nags Rai, took place at the Victoria Park at 10 am with very high volume of attendance. The programme was concluded by the Chairperson, Mr Dammar Singak, at 12pm by giving special thanks to the event Coordinator, the Chairman Gurkha Peace Foundation (Mr Bhimraj Tumbahangphe), Mr Shreeprasad Limbu and his Sunday Runner Team, Chairman of Royal British Legion Mr Shaun Ryles, Cllr Mr Paul Bartlett and all who attended the event. **TAR** **2023-2024** 13 **Event :** Presentation to Godinton Park Community **Date :** Thursday, 20 July 2023 **Venue :** Godinton Community Hall, Ashford A PowerPoint presentation about Gurkhas and the Sagarmatha Gurkha/Nepalese Community was delivered to the Godinton Park Community by the Chairperson Youth, Shikar Limbu, at the Godinton Community Hall on Thursday, 20 July 2023. The audiences were also entertained by cultural dances that was organized by the Cultural Secretary, Om Magar. Ex Chairperson Shreeprasad Limbu talked about the Nepalese Community’s “Dream Project” of purchasing of a Community Hall. The event was led by the Youth Chairperson and coordinated by Madan Pomu. **TAR** **2023-2024** 14 **Event :** Tit-Bits Party **Date :** Wednesday, 16 August 2023 **Venue :** Community Office, Ashford Kent The event was held in the Community Office situated at the Ashford town centre on Wednesday, 16 August 2023 and was well attended by the Executive Committee Members, Advisors and former Mayor of Ashford – Mrs Jenny Webb. The Members were delighted as it happened to be receiving Mr Bishnudatta Angbohang who was a founding member and patron of the Limbuwan Study Centre. He was on his visit to the UK from Canada. Most of the Councillors and the leaders of the local Nepalese community (Jatiya) could not make it due to their other commitments. The main aim of organising the event was to get to know each other by cultivating and maintaining cohesion within and wider communities. General Secretary, Mr Ram Prasad Limbu **TAR** **2023-2024** 16 On behalf of the Community, Dammar Limbu and Uma Gurung congratulated and wished him a successful tenor by presenting him Khadas and bouquet of flower. **Event :** 13[TH] Sagarmatha Cup 2023 **Date :** Sunday, 27 August 2023 **Venue :** Spearpoint Pavilion, The Ridge, Kennington, Ashford, Kent, TN24 9ET The event was coordinated by Chiran Rai Vice with his Assistant Coordinator Basundhara Rai Vice, and his team Sport Secretary Padam Yonghang, Assistant Sport Secretary Rabin Pariyar and Sport Director Shreeprasad Limbu (Advisor). The annual event was being held every year on the last Sunday of the August since its establishment in 2008 and the community was unable to hold the event in the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. There were three categories: Main (16 years and above), Veteran (37 years and above) and Super Veteran (45 years and above) with 23 teams’ entries in total and Chief Guest of the day was Mayor of the Ashford, Cllr Larry Krause. Main topic of the programme were “Anti-Social Behaviour”, “Bowel Cancer” and “Drugs & Alcohol”. The Anti-Social Behaviour was covered by the Officers of the Kent Police – PC Delargy and PC Wheatley. Topic of the Bowel Cancer was delivered by Dr Anish Shresth and his team from the Nepalese Doctors Association UK (NDA UK). Bijay Limbu from Forward Trust talked about the Drug & Alcohol. Konl ISGN¢AKI TAR 21 2023-2024 |**Event**|**:**|Teej Party| |---|---|---| |**Date**|**:**|Saturday, 23 September 2023| |**Venue**|**:**|Godington Village Hall, Ashford Kent| Teej Party, one of Ladies Committee’s annual event, was coordinated by Mrs Prem Kumari Gurung (Chief Vice LADIES) and held at Godington village Hall Ashford Kent on Saturday, 23 September 2023 from 16.30 to 22.30 hrs. **TAR** **2023-2024** 22 TAR 23 2023-2024 **Event :** Mrs BJ White – 93[rd] Birthday **Date :** Saturday, 7 October 2023 **Venue :** At her resident A team consisted of the Chairperson Dammar Limbu, 1[st] Lady Basimaya Limbu, Chairperson Ladies Committee Umadevi Gurung and Shobraj Gurung representing the Community celebrated the 93[rd] Birthday of the Honorary Member, Mrs BJ White at her resident in the evening on Saturday 7 October 2023. **TAR** **2023-2024** 24 **Event :** Gurkha Warrior Red Carpet Utsav **Date :** Saturday, 21 October 2023 **Venue :** Ashford Picturehouse, Elwick Road, Ashford, TN23 1AE The movie, “Gurkha Warrior” show at the Ashford Picturehouse Ashford on Saturday, 21 October 2024 was coordinated by the Vice Chiran Rai on behalf of the Community. The movie was one of untold stories of Gurkhas who fought in the Borneo Confrontation in 1960s and the show started 2 pm after presenting some “Certificates of Appreciation” to the forty Veterans. The certificates were presented by the guests Bhim Tumbahangphe (Chairman Gurkha Peace Foundation) and Vice President Maj Tony Finch (Royal British Legion) of behalf of the “Gurkha Warrior”. **TAR** **2023-2024** 25 TAR 26 2023-2024 **Event :** Dashain/Tihar Celebration Party **Date :** Saturday, 4 November 2023 **Venue :** St Simon Stock Catholic church Hall, Ashford Dashain/Tihar Celebration Party, one of the community’s annual events, was held at St Simon Church Hall on Saturday, 4 November 2024 from 16.30 to 22.30 hours. The programme was split into three phases – pre-programme, formal and entertainment. The formal programme started with lighting the candles on the stage by the Chairperson Dammar Limbu, Chief Guest Mayor of Ashford Cllr Larry Krause and the Special Guest Rt Hon Damian Green MP at 18.30 hrs. Guest artist from Nepal, singer Menuka Rai, was presented with a “Certificate of Appreciation” by the Mayor and two members of the community Charkarbahadur Sampang Rai and Bhimraj Tumbahangphe were praised by presenting “Certificate of Recognition” for their selfless commitment and commendable work. An 89[th] birthday cake for David Webb (concert of former Mayor Jenny Webb) was cut as a surprise in the evening after the conclusion of the formal programme and prior to taking over by the Cultural Secretary Om Mager for the Entertainment Phase at 20.00 hrs. **TAR** **2023-2024** 27 AshlTrrd, .q%brord. Main aim of the programme was to educate the community so that they could take a correct action before it was too late. The programme was jointly hosted by the Community and the Global Bullion Vault and had taken place right after the Remembrance Sunday. Entrance to the programme opened at 3 pm and the volume of the audience was high, and they were entertained by Deusi-Bhailo cultural songs and dances along with the cultural games. Formal part of the programme was marked by lighting candles by the Chairperson Dammar Limbu, Chairperson Ladies Committee Umadevi Gurung, the founding Chairperson Siriprasad Limbu and the Coordinator Durga Limbu. Health and Healthy Lifestyle by Prof Manohar Lal Shrestha **TAR** **2023-2024** 40 **Event :** Meeting with Kent Police **Date :** Monday, 22 January 2024 **Venue :** Community Office Chairperson, Dammar Limbu, organized a meeting with Kent Police at the Community Office on Monday 22 January 2024. The meeting seemed to be very fruitful, and the topics talked about were in various fields from the role of the police officers to the each and individual member of the community. The Chairperson thanked for their invaluable time and help to the Community Police Liaison Office Catherine Stevens and Police Officers Joe and Carmine. **TAR** **2023-2024** 41 **Event :** Meet & Greet – Sapana Roka Magar **Date :** Sunday, 28 January 2023 **Venue :** Community Office Sapana Roka Magar, listed in BBC’s 100 inspiring and influential women from around the globe for 2020, visited Ashford, Kent and shared her experience. She works in a crematorium and provides traditional Hindu funeral rites for abandoned and unidentified deceased bodies performing Dagbatti rituals at the Pashupati Aryaghat, on the banks of Bagmati river, where deceased bodies are cremated, in Kathmandu. Despite a very short notice, the Sagarmatha Gurkha/Nepalese Community Ashford Kent (SGNCAK) managed to organize the programme where the members of the community who were present at the event, had an opportunity to greet and meet her in the Community’s office on Sun, 28 Jan 24. The Chairperson, Dammar Limbu, presented a cheque of £501 to Sapana as a token of love that was collected among the members at the hall, and expressed his sincere gratitude to all members giving a special thanks to the Chairman of the Magar Association UK, Mrs Sita Pun, for making this event happen. **TAR** **2023-2024** 42 **Event :** Funds for Mrs Dhan Maya Limbu **Date :** Wednesday, 28 March 2024 **Venue :** Community Office Members of the Community had raised some funds to help Mrs Dhan Maya Limbu, who had just lost her husband. The funds were presented to her by the respective person on behalf of their organisations/groups: a. £1634.00 – Dammar Limbu Chairperson on behalf of the SGNCAK b. £2639.00 – Hom Raj Rai et al., on behalf of the William Harvey Staff Team c. £2924.00 – Maj (Retd) Padam Limbu MVO on behalf of 7GR **TAR** **2023-2024** 43 Mrs Dhan Maya Senehang Limbu and her husband, Ex 21141946 Rfn Chandradhoj Senehang Limbu 7GR Borneo Confrontation veteran, arrived the UK on the 15[th] of February 2024.
