During 2023 we have seen further changes for the Overstone Playing Field Association. The aim of the association in 2023 was to make the playing field better known to the village and local community along with making sure improvements can be made during the year.
Over the year OPFA have said goodbye to 1 long standing member Mike. We are always looking for new members from the local community and hopefully we can welcome some new people in during 2024.
We continued our fundraising efforts this year. We held quiz in in March which as always had a great turnout. Our OPFA family fun day however was moved to the village hall due to rain. Although frustrating we still had a great day and will look to continue this (back in the playing field) next year. Another event we were looking to host for Halloween was also cancelled due to the weather. We did however arrange a Christmas event in the village hall which also had a good turnout.
Some of the improvements made this year were upgrading the goalposts in the playing field. We received a grant for this and have had these installed. We have also received another grant from the lottery for benches on the playing field and we will hopefully have these installed soon.
Moving into 2024 OPFA will look to continue to bring further funds in to develop the playing field equipment and continuing to promote the field via our Facebook page. OPFA will also continue to keep the field a safe space along with promoting the use for health and fitness for all of the local community and an enjoyable safe space for the children as well.
