During 2022 we have seen further changes for the Overstone Playing Field Association. The aim of the association in 2022 was to make the playing field better known to the village and local community along with making sure improvements can be made during the year.
Over the year OPFA welcomed 2 new members in Rachel and Caroline along with saying goodbye to 2 long standing members in Fiona and Andy. We are always looking for new members from the local community and hopefully we can welcome some new people in during 2023.
Several fundraising events were held over the 2022 period long with a quiz night in May and a pumpkin hunt in October. We also decided to hold our inaugural family fun day on the playing field which happened on the Saturday of the bank holiday weekend in August. We invited local charities from Overstone and Sywell to bring stools along with having vendors to supply ice cream, food and drinks along with a bouncy council. The event also had a plate smash provided by Albion Clearance Services and was definitely a favourite on the day. The event was also supported by local musicians The Kings Gambit. It was a success with around 400 people coming and leaving great feedback and this is something we will be looking to continue into 2023 and onwards.
In regard to improvements this year we decided to have the metal swings and climbing frame re painted as they had grown tired. This was done in several colours and has really brightened up the playing field.
As for sponsors this year we have Richard Greener and Albion Clearance Services. We are always looking for other sponsors as well as we continue to try and develop and update the current equipment.
Moving into 2023 OPFA will look to continue to bring further funds in to develop the playing field equipment and continuing to promote the field via our Facebook page. OPFA will also continue to keep the field a safe space for the local community along with promoting the use for health and fitness for all of the local community and an enjoyable safe space for the children as well.
