Annual Report 2021

Over the year of 2021 we have seen many changes to our field along with trustees. The continued lockdowns have also shown how fantastic an outdoor space can be to the local community and also continues to be the only safe space for the villages of Overstone and surrounding areas.

During the early months of the year OPFA were again unable to fund raise due to the continued lockdowns which did cause worry about how we generate funds to keep the field open for the local community. As the year continued it was decided to advertise for new member due to some retirements later in the year and four new trustees joined Sarah, James, Holly and Phillip.

With the new trustees coming on board and things opening up OPFA started again doing some fund raisers with a beetle drive, quiz and pumpkin hunt being done throughout the year bringing in some much needed funds. We also welcomed Runhams, Richard Greener, Albion Clearance Services and Pad Print UK Ltd on board as sponsors and depending on opportunities OPFA may look to extend this in 2022. We also had a grant donated to us from a trustee’s company along with a sponsored run bringing in further funds.

The school also gained permission to build a new wooden playing equipment with slides and climbing equipment, which was installed in September, this sits well alongside the MUGA the school also had installed a few years earlier. Unfortunately, the old slide was removed in September due to it being no longer fit for purpose, we were lucky enough to have local support for the removal of this with special thanks to Albion Clearance Services for their assistance.

In October OPFA did say goodbye to three long standing trustees Carole, Andrew and Helen. All three have been great servants to OPFA over the years and although we did manage to have a drink and say goodbye to all three of them on their final meeting, they will all be sorely missed.

Moving into 2022 OPFA will look to continue to bring further funds in to develop the playing field equipment and continuing to promote the field via our Facebook page. OPFA will also continue to keep the field a safe space for the local community along with promoting the use for health and fitness for all of the local community and an enjoyable safe space for the children as well.
