Sapgate Gardens Charity Commission Report 2023 -2024

Sapgate Gardens Association has continued to operate maintaining and developing the community space . Regular monthly planning meetings have taken place and volu teens have met weekly .

The weather was poor from the Autumn of 2023 to the Spring of 2024 and this had an effect on the activities which took place and attendance of volunteers. However, a core group continued to meet and be active.

We had planned to continue with the work with the schools but unfortunately staffing problems at the schools meant this was not possible. However, there is a plan to reinstate the link with the primary school in 2025 .

During the summer of 2023 we held community events on the Gardens which were well attended and kept the profile of the Gardens high. These events included Easter egg hunt, Teddy Bears picnic( with the library rhyme time group) Refugee picnic( with inclusive volunteering Bradford) and music events featuring two local, popular bands .

Funding has come from the CoOp good causes fund ,from Asda community scheme, from the Local Authority community chest and from fundraising through sales of local produce and crafts . This has meant all events are free to all .

Sapgate Gardens was also a key part of the popular Open Gardens event in Summer 2023.

.

From Jan 2023 we started to use the community centre as a base for refreshments on volunteer days, and this has helped to create strong links between volunteers and makes the group even more attractive to join

We are proud of what we have achieved since the group was established in 2016 and look forward to building a bigger group of volunteers and even stronger links with other local groups.
