## **Objectives and Activities**

the charity as set out in its
governing document|To provide facilities for the out of school care, education
and recreation of children at Long Furlong school by the
provision of a breakfast club and an after-school club.
Our primary aim is to provide facilities for the out of school
care, education and recreation of children at Long Furlong
School by the provision of a breakfast club and after
school club.|

and staff. The club provides training opportunities in the
field of play work to its staff as well as other training
required for the role including safeguarding, food hygiene
and paediatric first aid.|

## **Achievements and Performance**

benefits to society as a
whole.|Long Furlong Badger Club has continued to provide a
valuable out of school childcare service to the parents and
carers of pupils at Long Furlong Primary School.
The club has up to 42 spaces available per session, the
majority of which are taken up by regular contracts.
Demand for the club remains high, particularly for after-
school sessions and many parents join the waiting list
over a year in advance. Parents/carers are also able to
book ad hoc sessions when required although these are
usually only available for Breakfast Club.
The charity has retained its high staff to child ratio, above
what is required by Ofsted, with up to 6 staff for the
busiest shifts.|

## **Financial Review**
|Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the year.|All money the charity holds is unrestricted and is used to
further the aims of the charity. The charity’s expenditure
supports the objectives of the charity.
With the near capacity attendance at most sessions, the
club’s turnover grew by 5.5% compared to the last
financial year. However, this was offset by further
increases in staff costs as a result of higher minimum
wage rates and pension costs as well as another
significant increase in rent imposed by the school.
However, expenditure on food decreased despite inflation
as a result of improved management of the food budgets.
As at the year end, the club also had a number of
outstanding payments due from parents which contributed
to the deficit in the financial year.
In recognition of the increasing costs and the reduction in
reserves, the session prices were increased in January
2025 to address some of the deficit and manage reserves
going forward.
At the end of the year, it was recognised that the level of
staffing on some sessions should be reviewed to better
manage these costs whilst still maintaining an appropriate
staff to child ratio.|

stating why they are held|We hold a reserve policy to ensure we establish a level of
reserves that is appropriate for our charity. The reserves
allow us to invest in the staff and equipment for the charity
as the needs arise. They are also reviewed on a regular
basis to consider whether our session pricing and
therefore value to our families is appropriate.
We consider this demonstrates good stewardship and
active financial management in addition to demonstrating
the charity’s resilience and capacity to manage
unforeseen financial circumstances.|

£6,138).|

During the year, 1 trustee incurred expenses amounting to £381 for DBS fees and office expenses, (2024– 1 trustee £195).

parties|For the year ended 31 August 2025 The charity paid rent
amounting to £3,325 (2024 – £2,000) to Long Furlong
Primary School and this rate is agreed between the
School and the Charity.
Mr S Gladwell is an employee of the Charity and his wife
Mrs N Gladwell is a trustee. For the year ended 31
August 2025, Mr S Gladwell was paid a gross salary of
£10,128 (2024 - £10,125) for his work. The salary reflects
the job undertaken.
During the year, Mr S Gladwell incurred expenses which
were reimbursed amounting to £700 for the purposes of a
staff parties (2024 – £556).|

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts set out on the following pages of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31 August 2025 set out on pages 6 and 7.
## **Responsibilities and basis of report**
As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
## **Independent examiner's statement**
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:
- accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act or
- the accounts do not accord with the accounting records
- • the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
