The trustees who are also directors of the charity for the purposes of the Companies Act 2006, present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 July 2024. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS102).
Objectives and Activities
Objectives and aims
The Oadby Wyggestonian Rugby Football Club promotes participation and interest in the sport of Rugby Football in the local area to improve health, fitness, teamwork and leadership within the local community without discrimination. This is delivered by raising awareness and supporting those involved in making rugby accessible from a young age and for all genders.
Oadby Wyggestonian Rugby Football Club raises money through membership subscriptions, donations, sponsorship and events.

Achievement and Performance
- Charitable Activities
The Oadby Wyggestonian Rugby Football Club is committed to making a positive impact both on and o� the field. Through charitable initiatives the Club supports inclusivity in sport and provides opportunities for young players in our juniors, midis and mini sections. The Club hosts fundraising events and runs outreach programmes to introduce rugby to children from all backgrounds. The Club believes that participation in rugby helps build teamwork, confidence and resilience and is committed to ensuring that everyone, regardless of age or ability, can enjoy the game and benefit from the values it instils.
Financial Review
- Principal Funding Sources
The principal sources of funding during the year included membership fees, donations and grants. After the year end, the charity also received a dividend from its trading subsidiary, OWRFC (Trading) Ltd of its profits made in the year in question.
- Reserves Policy
Surplus funds at the year end that have not been distributed for the objectives of the charity are retained in reserves to be utilised towards the charitable objectives in future periods.

- Going Concern
After making appropriate enquiries, the Trustees have a reasonable expectation that the charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. They have therefore adopted the going concern basis in preparing the financial statements.
- Future Plans
In the next 12 months, the charity intends to continue to promote rugby for women and girls. There will also be a focus on providing opportunities to less privileged areas as well as continuing to support the purposes of the charity in promoting rugby in the local area.

Governing Document
The charity is controlled by its governing document, a deed of trust, and is constituted as a limited company, limited by guarantee, as defined by the Companies Act 2006.

Oadby Wyggestonian Rugby Football Club Ltd is a charitable organisation. It is a private company limited by guarantee without share capital and is registered in England & Wales.

Trustees may be appointed by nomination by existing trustees of the charity. Their appointment will be agreed at a committee meeting.

On accounts for the year ended 31 July 2024
I report to the trustees on my examination of the above charity accounts for the year ended 31 July 2024.
As the charity trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the charity accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

1. Accounting Policies
Basis of Preparing the Financial Statements
been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS102),Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS102), Financial Reporting Standard 102 and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historic cost convention.
Income
All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the funds, it is probable that the income will be received, and the amount can be measured reliably.
Expenditure
Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where costs cannot be attributed to headings, they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources.
Grants and donations
Grant and donations are only included in the Statement of Financial Activities when the general income recognition criteria are met. If the grant or donation is received with conditions relating to its use the costs are accrued within the same period as the receipt of the grant.
Gift Aid
Gift Aid receivable is included in income once there has been a valid claim and the amount to be claimed is known.
Volunteer Assistance
The value of any voluntary help received is not included in the accounts.
Taxation
The charity is exempt from corporation tax on its charitable activities
Fund Accounting
Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees. Restricted funds can only be used for specified restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for a particular restricted purpose. Details of any restrictions are included in the notes to the financial statements.

Hire purchase and leasing commitments
Rentals paid under operating leases are charged to the Statement of Financial Activities on a straight-line basis over the period of the lease.
