REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES
The Trustees present their report and the xcounts of Shepshed F¢knJbank for the year ended 10
October 2025.
1 GENERAL INFORMAThON
Shepshed Foodbank is a Chatitable Incorporated Organtsation {CIO) govemed by a V￿1￿8￿
constitution. It was registered as a GIO on 19 October 2017. The Foodbank was originally set
up in 2014 and has operated since that date.
The principal address of Shepshed Foodbank is The G￿nMOre Centre, Thorpe Road,
Shepshed, Loughborough LE12 9LU.
ECTIVES
The objecttve of Shepshed Foodbank is the preventlon or rellef of povéty in Shepshed and the
surrounding area, by the provision of regular food parcels to families and indwiduals in need.
3 GOVERNANCE OF THE CHARITY
3.1 Tru8t6•s
The Trustees have overall accountsbilty for the charity. Truste8s are apwinted by
nominats'on and voting by existing Trustees. The Tnjstee Board meets quartety.

The Trustees confirm that they have had due regard to the public ￿nefft guidance
issued by the Charfty Commission for England and Wales.
During the year three ot our long-serving trustees st￿d down from the Trustee Board.
We would like to thank them for all that they have Contributed, and continue to
contribute. to the Foodbank.
3.2 Manag•ment Commlttee
In January 2025. the Trustee Board appointed a Management Committe8 with
delegated responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Foodbank. The powers of

An in-depth review of our health and safety risk5 15 currenUy being undertaken.
An Accident Reporting Process is in place. In 2024-5 there was one accident reported.
3A Rlsk Management
The Trustees have assessed the major risks to whlch the charsty is exposed and ar8
satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate Ihese risks.
The principal rtsks to the continued operatlon of tha Foodbank are:

3.5 R080rv•8 Pollcy
The TnJste£s' policy is to maintain sufficlent r8S6N8S to Provide working capitsl for the
Charity's ongoing activities and to meet any expenses as they fall due.
At the Trusts8 Board Me8tlng"Sn January 2025 it was decided to allocate £20,000 to
Reserve Fund lo cover the replacement of equIp￿Ent as necessary and lo contribute
towards any necessary work on the building.
The malor pSec8s of equlpment covered are:

We anticipate replacing the van at some polnt in the 2025-26 Financial Year.

E YEAR
Wé cel8brated our 11th year as Shepshed FIK)dbank.
4.1 Dollverlng Our Objectlves
For the period October 2024 to October2025, w8 provided food to famili08, couples
and single clients, feeding 2055 adults and 1404 children.
Although the majority of those we help come to the Foodbank, we also deliver to
the housebound. Volltnteers from Kegworth kindly de5iver food parcels whl¢h we
suppty to six house bound residents in Kegworth and Shepshed volunteer drNers
deliver to three clients in Shepshed.
We also support three Ukrainlan families re-located to Shep5hed.
For Christmas 2024, and with help from the Shepshed Lions, Iwal businesses arKI
schools, we handed out Christrftas hampers, feeding 45 adults and 37 children.
We are working togelher with the new Shepshed Community Fridge to further help
address food povety. Our excess fresh food from our Tuesday openTrng is tsken to
the Fridge.
4.2 Support from the Local Community
We continue to weive fantastic support from the local ¢ommunity- individuals,
schools. businesses, pubs, restaurants, churches, shops, other charltable
organisations.

During the year we have recetved generous cash donations from the customers of
the Bottom Raihvay and Twigg's the Butchers. from local firms GEDA, from
Shepshed Market and from Osgathorpe.
B&M donated voucher5 as part of their opening celebrations.
Local firm PAX8 has donat￿ fc<¥J.
Newhurst Energy Recovery Facilty adopted the F(￿dbank a5 their local charity for
2025. Overthe surnmer. volunteets visited the srte and were given avery interesting
tour.
In September 2025. the Caroline Shatpe Singers and the Loughborough Concert
Band held a fantsstic mustcal cOn￿rt in aid of tire Focmjbank. This was well
suprKJrted and rdised £650 for the Foomybank.
St Bot01￿.8 2nd St Wntfred's sclKKils and Belton Primary school and"Belton
playgroup all provided fcKJd frorn the￿ harvest festivals.
3 Improvlng How We Operate
In 2025 we have been successful in claming Grft Aid frorn HMRC for the financial
years 202011 through to 202314 (ie four years in totaQ and wll Continue to do thi5 in
fuiure years. This is likety to (x)ntritHJte £1000 a year.
We relaunched our webstie in 2025 (shepshedfoodbank.org). One of its key
features is that it now allcAvs supwrters to make financKql donations online. We also
maintain a presence on FacebooK which is our principal m&Jium for news and

We have purchased a ne4V laptop arKI printerto assist us in administration and have
so had CCTV inslal&J on the exterior of the premises (followtng an attempted
break-in) and a new wfi router.
We are expk)ring exptoration of ways in whth the Foodbank can further suppjrt
ciients.
5 SuppoRT
Shepshed Foodbank could not operate without the support of so mary people. We are very
fortunate to have a wonderful group of atrN)Ut 30 volunteers who willingly give of their time to
work tirelessty to provide the very best outcorrE for all of our c[￿. This year several n&v
volunteer5 joined Shepshed foodbanK bringirtg with them a tange of slvlls and expertise.
Training courses in Safeguarding were organised for every volLEnteer. We also welcomed
volunteers from the tocal offices of pa￿er MeggitL Nottingham Building Society and GEDA.
We could not cary out orwork wtthout the generous financial SUPE￿ of many local people.
