RAINBO MUSIC TRUST ANNUAL CHARITY REPORT 2024-2025
This report covers the period from 01/04/2024 to the 31/03/2025, end of the Charity’s tax year.
The total income was £18,929.55, £2000 of which came from a grant from Bideford Town Council, £3000 from Devon County Council’s Growing Communities Fund, £1500 from Bideford Bridge Trust, £179.09 from fundraising and sponsorship.
The total expenditure was £18,566.24, leaving a balance of £363.31. There was £199.99 in the account at the start of the year, this brings the final balance to £563.30 for the year.
Charitable Objectives: ‘To advance education for the public benefit in the art of music by the provision of grants and donations to schools, colleges and community groups and individuals to enable wider access to music tuition and to assist the purchase/loan of musical instruments and equipment.’

event hosted various music workshops with the opportunity for participants to try playing instruments, to sing, and to perform on the main stage. This is meeting the charities objectives in enabling music tuition and benefiting the public. The Bideford Music Day is funded with grants which covers the infrastructure costs and gives us a base to provide free workshops that are accessible to the whole community, with the opportunity for individuals to perform on stage.
This year we again increased the number of workshops available to people attending and gave many youngsters the opportunity to perform on different stages, including the main stage. We had a busking stage and a youth stage, which people could use to perform a single song, or more. The event ran for two days.
We have also continued to build up a collection of donated instruments. We have acquired an office space to store the instruments in an have built relationships with local music tutors to help repair and rehome donations. This is going well and this year we have rehomed various instruments including guitars, keyboards, drumkits and violins. We are now working on a plan to build relationships with local schools so we can help them provide students with instruments from the Donation Bank.

We have been working to find a fundraiser and are pleased to announce that Linda Harper has joined our team in March 2025. Linda has worked with several not-for-profit organisations as treasurer and fundraiser over the past decade, including a sports charity OCRA ~ Okehampton Community and Recreation Association. Linda has project managed Okehampton Community Garden for 10 years, taking it from a bare field into the amazing community resource that it is today, stepping back early in 2025.
We have created a dedicated Committee to help with the organisation of Bideford Music Day. We have created a dedicated website to show people what we do and how they can get involved. The website is: www.rainbomusictrust.co.uk
We have also set up an account with Devon County Council Safer Recruitment Service and are in the process of DBS checking all of our volunteers. We are arranging further training for volunteers including Safeguarding Training.

Income of £7291,28 came from the office space. £566.28 of this figure was a refund of fees paid for Water (Source4Business) as the supplier had read the wrong meter. £6,725.00 of this total came from hire of the office space.

The total expenditure was £18,566.24.
£300 spent on community workshops at events.
Volunteer Training Costs totalled £3020.00.
