The Charity's objectives are to relieve the trauma and distress of victims of sexual abuse and their families, in particular through the provision of counselling, advice and support; to advance the education of the public in sexual assault and in the effects on the victim and their families.

Objects: The Objects Of The CIO Are:(1) To Relieve The Trauma And Distress Of Those Who Have Experienced Rape Or Sexual Violence And Their Families, In Particular Through The Provision Of Counselling, Advocacy And Support; And(2) To Advance The Education Of Relevant Professionals And The General Public On The Impact Of Rape And Sexual Violence And Its Effectsprimarily (But Not Exclusively) By Supporting The Member Charities Of The CIO In The Advancement Of Their Charitable Objects, In All Cases In Accordance With The Statement Of Values In Schedule 3.Provided That Nothing In This Constitution Shall Authorise An Application Of The Property Of The CIO For Purposes Which Are Not Charitable In Accordance With Section 7 Of The Charities And Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 And Section 2 Of The Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.
