I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31/03/2023.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

To promote social inclusion for the public benefit, by working with in particular but not exclusively members of the Gorkha Nepalese community living in the United Kingdom who are socially excluded or at risk of social exclusion on the grounds of their ethnic origin and their social and economic position, to relieve the needs of such people and assist them to integrate into society in particular by advancing

education assisting in the provision of English language tuition, providing or assisting in the provision of facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation and leisure time, assistance in relieving sickness and financial hardship & the relief and assistance of people of the United Kingdom and abroad who are the victims of natural or other kinds of disaster by the provision of financial or other assistance.

Gorkha Zilla Gurung Samaj UK (GZGSUK) - Registered charity number 1175191 has been actively involved in charitable events since its establishment in 2008. Since removal of Covid restriction the samaj has carried out its activities as follows:

1. 10 June 2022 - The samaj raised £1073 to support the Ukraine crisis. The money was handed over to British Red Cross by the Chairman and General Secretary. The recognition certificate received from British Red Cross as follows:

2. 27 August 2022 -The first youth charity event was organised by the youth team of the samaj. The aim was to donate 25% of the raised money to local Frimley Park Hospital where our members and families received an excellent care when suffered from the Covid-19 during the peak of the pandemic. The rest of the raised money was to donate for urgent hamartian causes around the world. A handsome amount of donations was raised on the day.

3. 03 October 2022 – The Veterans Foundation UK approved our application for £30,000 donation in order to educate our elderly veterans and their families. Since 90% of the members are the veterans, it was considered to the priority one. The project was conducted in three stages Hampshire, London and Ashford where most of our members are resided.

4. 20 Oct 2022 - Fund raised to support late Mr Aiman Gurung’s funeral (M/NO 028) & the cheque of £4,500 handed over to his son Mr Kamal Gurung by the treasurer in Nepal. He was also one of the elderly members who survived in government’s benefit allowances. We supported him morally & financially to comfort his living. He died while he was in Nepal.

5. 10 January 2023 – Donations raised on 27 August 2022 during the youth charity event, 25% of it, £2,000 of cheque was handed over to the Frimley Parks hospital management team by former chairman Mr Phadakjit Gurung who was one of the patients of Covid – 19 and survived the ordeal.

6. 21 January 2023 - Fund raised to support late Mrs Masina Gurung’s funeral & Vice chairman Mrs Naina Gurung handed over a cheque of £4,500 to his Son Bikram Gurung. She was a single mum who lost her husband in 2010 and was suffered from the mental health issue. We supported her morally & financially to comfort her living.

7. 31 March 2023 – On the official request of Jal Kanya High School to support their educational needs, the members voluntarily raised a handsome amount of £3, 310. which was donated to the president of school’s governing body by former vice chairman Mr Tekman Gurung in Nepal.

8. 1[st] April 2022 to 31[st] March 2023 - Apart from the above significant financial supports, the executive committee members who attended numerous charitable events on invitation of various charity organisations have donated some amounts to support their good causes under the discretion of the chairman that has been authorised the trustees.

The Trustees & executive members of the Gorkha Zilla Gurung Samai UK develop many policies that are used to raise funds, organise cultural programmes or charities. Every attempt is made to ensure the validity and legality of the policies. The policies are reviewed in every annual general meeting, and even earlier on if any concerns are raised by the members or executive members.

The Gorkha Zilla Gurung Samaj UK organise charity programmes that raise You may choose to include funds to support and assist the people in need and the organizations for the further statements, where good cause. The requested support and assistance are discussed in the general relevant, about: meeting and the proposal is accepted and decided in accordance to our • constitution by the majority of members.

All donations are raised from the community members voluntarily for each individual cases and purposes.

All the works for the community programmes are executed by the Executive Committee and volunteer members on free of charge basis and only tasks that involve legal instances will be carried out by the professional on the minimum charge of payment as possible.
