To promote social inclusion for the public benefit, by working with in particular but not exclusively members of the Gorkha Nepalese community living in the United Kingdom who are socially excluded or at risk of social exclusion on the grounds of their ethnic origin and their social and economic position, to relieve the needs of such people and assist them to integrate into society in particular by advancing

education assisting in the provision of English language tuition, providing or assisting in the provision of facilities in the interest of social welfare for recreation and leisure time, assistance in relieving sickness and financial hardship & the relief and assistance of people of the United Kingdom and abroad who are the victims of natural or other kinds of disaster by the provision of financial or other assistance.

Gorkha Zilla Gurung Samaj UK (GZGSUK) - Registered charity number 1175191 has been actively involved in charity events since its establishment in 2008. Most of the projects have been put on hold until further notice due to the Covid-19 restriction. However, essential support that must be carried out were achieved as follows:
1. 28 April 2020 - Fund raised to support late Shankar Gurung’s funeral expenses & the Vice chairman handed over a cheque (No 100091 & 100094) to his wife Mrs Laxmi Gurung. The total amount raised was £4,280.
2. 29 May 2020 – Fund raised to support late Mr Budbal Gurung’s funeral & the chairman handed over a cheque (No 100092) to his wife. The amount raised was £4,300. He was one of the elderly members who survived in government’s benefit allowances. We supported him morally & financially to comfort his living.

3. 25 June 2020 - Fund raised to support late Mr Budasing Gurung’s funeral & the chairman handed over a cheque (No 100095) to his wife. The amount raised was £2,000. He was also one of the elderly members who survived in government’s benefit allowances. We supported him morally & financially to comfort his living.
4. 21 January 2021 - Fund raised to support late Mrs Dhankumari Gurung’s funeral & the chairman handed over a cheque (No 100108) to his husband. The amount raised was £4,300. Her body was flown to Nepal on her next of kin’s request.
5. 05 March 2021 - Fund raised to support late Mrs Sitakumari Gurung’s funeral & the chairman handed over a cheque to his husband. The amount raised was £4,300. She was also one of the elderly members who survived in government’s benefit allowances. We supported him morally & financially to comfort his living.

6. 26 Jan – 01 Mar 2020:
Project name: Ex-Gurkha of Aldershot together Conducted by : Gorkha Zilla Gurung Samaj UK (GZGSUK) (Registered Charity Number: 1175191)
Participants: 36 of Senior citizens (over 50), Nepalese migrants, family migrants, ex-Gurkha veterans participated in the Project.
Grant: The National Lottery Community Fund approved and granted the amount of £9,995.

Project activities:

Practical English Language sessions for senior citizens (26 sessions). This project helps bringing people together and integrate these minority ethnic and isolated groups to other diverse communities.

Health and Safety awareness session (1 session of 3 hours) will help participants to be aware about the local GP access and familiarise them with other health related issues as well. It has also aimed to familiarise them with the pedestrian road safety, the traffic rules and also to make them aware about how to remain safe from the fraudulent activities and theft. The session will also promote healthy lifestyle for senior citizens of minority community like Nepalese exGurkha families. So far total of £7,145 amount has been spent to achieve the above activities.

Educational and Entertainment visits to the historical places : To introduce about the British history, Cultures and values to the participants and it should have been taken place in June 2020. Unfortunately, due to the national lockdown it has been put on hold until further notice.

The Trustees & executive members of the Gorkha Zilla Gurung Samai UK develop many policies that are used to raise funds, organise cultural programmes or charities. Every attempt is made to ensure the validity and legality of the policies. The policies are reviewed in every annual general meeting, and even earlier on if any concerns are raised by the members or executive members.
The Gorkha Zilla Gurung Samaj UK organise charity programmes that raise You may choose to include funds to support and assist the people in need and the organizations for the further statements, where good cause. The requested support and assistance are discussed in the general relevant, about: meeting and the proposal is accepted and decided in accordance to our • constitution by the majority of members.
