## Section D Achievements and performance

During the entire financial year, the hall was closed to due **Summary of the main** Covid-19 government restrictions, except for brief periods in **achievements of the** September/October and December 2020, and January 2021 **charity during the year** when various organisations were allowed by government to use the hall under strict conditions. This meant that no public events took place at all, and income was drastically reduced from the levels of previous years. Expenditure, however, on overheads (eg. electricity) as well as on insurance, water, fire safety checks (equipment and systems), cleaning, etc remained consistent with previous years. This led to a deficit of just over £4,000.

However, Ryton Village Hall applied for and was successful in securing a £10,000 Covid-19 business grant from Shropshire Council. This partly paid off the deficit, the balance being set aside to be spent on capital and revenue projects in future years. At the time of writing this report, no decisions had been made as to where the money would be spent, although some funds have been set aside to overhaul the heating and hot water systems.

By January 2021, the number of trustees had dwindled to 5 people and a concerted effort was made to recruit new trustees and a larger pool of volunteers from Ryton residents. This campaign met with some success and 3 new trustees were appointed in March 2021, and another 12 volunteers were also signed up to help with events, activities and other administrative tasks.
