Barton Evangelical Church 2023-2024
The financial year saw some progress in the work of the charity in Barton upon Humber
Membership of the church increased by 3 as new members were added to the church.
The church’s work with children in the town expanded in two ways
First the children’s group that works with 5-11 years olds began meeting weekly
It had met only bi-weekly since the pandemic but now there were sufficient volunteers to make this change possible
Furthermore, the number of children the group works with has increased to an average of 25 per week
Also, the group that work with youngsters 12-18 has increased in number and began jointly working with the group that meets at another church in the locality sharing premises because the church premises in Barton are too small to accommodate the numbers comfortably
Work among the elderly continues much as it has done since the pandemic meeting bi-weekly with numbers in the low 20s: not only is this a warm space in winter but craft activities and such like are carried out and meals at the Christian festivals of the year are provided.
The weekly services of the church in the community for the community continue to be well attended for such a small town as Barton. Numbers regularly are in the 60s on a Sunday morning.
