We have<br>therefore established links with other local groups and taken<br>many opportunities through the local press and various local<br>forums, to explain what we are doing and encourage others<br>to assist us in the project. To involve the wider membership<br>of the Trust, and the wider community, our 2020 Annual<br>General Meeting was organised as a ‘hybrid meeting’ with<br>those not able to be present in the room, able to join via an<br>internet link.|

The charity does not invest in other projects, and we do not have a specific regarding social investment. Having been<br>part of a successful bid to secure funding for extensive<br>stabilisation work, much of the 2020 activity was concerned<br>with agreeing the details of this work, and appointing<br>contractors to start work in 2021<br>The local community would have gained no direct benefit<br>from our 2020 activities other than knowing that a group was<br>determined to improve an area that had become very<br>dilapidated, and had secured the financial and political<br>backingto helptheproject succeed.|



## **Additional information** 

In early 2020, funding was confirmed for urgent works and stabilisation of the Tabernacle as part of the Council’s bid for Achievements against Love Our High Streets funding through the West of England objectives set Combined Authority. ## **Additional information** 

Until the development of the Tabernacle has been completed, the charity will rely on grant funding and public donations to A description of the principal support its activities. ## **Independent Examiners Report to the Trustees of Whitfield Tabernacle Trust Respective responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner** 

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this financial period under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the charities act) and that an independent examination is needed. 

It is my responsibility to: 

examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act 

to follow the procedures laid down in the general Direction 

given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act) and 

to state whether particular matters have come to my attention 

## **Basis of independent examiners statement** 

My examination was carried out in accordance with general directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with these records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The 

procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in in audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair' view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below, 

## **Independent Examiners Statement** 

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention: 

1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act 

to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act have not been met; or 

2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
