To provide a financial benefit for residents of Campton village who are in need of support due to adverse personal circumstances, to be paid once yearly as a lump sum. This may either be directly to the persons concerned or to another charity that provides support to the community.

Funds are raised through rent paid on the charity’s property, referred to as ‘Poor’s Field’ located in Clifton Fields, Shefford, and from interest on the investment of capital from a bequest (Poor’s Stock) held in a COIF Charities Deposit Fund managed by CCLA.

The charity has awarded a grant to The Need Project Central Bedfordshire (Registered Charity Number 1157691) to enable purchase of provisions for this important local Food Bank. The Need Project was then able to distribute food provisions for those in need due to adverse personal circumstances who live in Campton.

The trustees have, in accordance with Section 17(5) of the Charities Act and the Charities Accounts and Reports Regulations 2008, paid due regard to the guidance on public benefit issued by the Charity Commission when exercising powers or duties to which the guidance was relevant.

**Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)**

## **Section E                    Financial review**

**Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves**

‘Poor’s Stock’ is invested through a CCLA investment fund which acts as a reserve. All grants are made from the current account.

**Details of any funds materially in deficit**

No deficits

## **Further financial review details (Optional information)**

You **may choose** to include additional information, where relevant about:

- the charity’s principal sources of funds (including any fundraising);

- how expenditure has supported the key objectives of the charity;

- investment policy and objectives including any ethical investment policy adopted.

The principal source of funding continues to be the leasing of ‘Poor’s Field’ for grazing. The rental income provides the major contribution to the annual grant award. In 2024 the rental due was £100.00 and the grant award agreed was £100.00.

The expenditure was specifically for the benefit of those persons in need living in Campton.

Trustees are very aware that public benefit is currently limited by the charity’s income and are looking to the main asset of the charity ‘Poor’s Field’, and its potential to increase income and therefore opportunities for public benefit. A change of use for the land might allow for an increased rent, or sale of all or part of the land might offer the potential to increase the charity’s holding in the ‘Poor’s Stock’ CCLA investment fund. The trustees have actively been researching a number of options and their viability, and have obtained a loan from the Parish Council to pay for the legal fees involved in first registration of ‘Poor’s Field’ with the Land Registry.

## **Section F Other optional information**

## **Section G                    Declaration**
