HOUNSLOW MuTF[rHAM PALLI ANNUAL REPORT of the Trustees and Financial Statements Year ended 31 August 2023 Message from the Chairperson: Mrs Thangeswary Gengadharan I present this Annual Report of the Hounslow Muththamil Palli (Hounslow Thamil School) since its acceptance onto the Register of Charilies for England and Wales (Charity Number 1174948)., Our aim is to promote, provide and advance education in the language, literature, culture, music and fme ghs. The organisation is arts of the Tamil Community to the public in Hounslow and its surrounding borou committed to achieving this by, but not exclusively, providing premises, educational materials, teachers, lecturers, equipment, instruments, perforniances, examinalions, competitions an(Vor funds. 11 11 Since starting our school in September 2014, enabled by the commitment and support of all the teachers, parents and students, we have made good progress in continuing to fulfil our stated charitable aims. At the end of the 2023 fmancial year nel student numbers have remained static at 185. All these students are being taught Thamil in one of the Grades from Nursery level to Grade 12. As usual, a majorily of these students have also taken advantage of learning or being introduced to at least one, if not two, of the extra music and art lessons we provide. Since our inauguration we have provided Bharatha-Natyam dance and 11 Carnatic Keyboar(L Violin and Vocalclasses. Our fee structure (£50 per student per terni) continues to remain unchanged since 2014 with no fees being charged for more than two siblings per family. The profit and loss submission demonstrates that this is a reasonable charge. We continue to follow the Tamil Education & Development Committee (TEDC) syllabus from Grades Nursery to 12. To this end our teachers continue to dedicate a lot of personal time to their own self- development by attending TEDC'S teacher-training courses and scveral one-day workshops. I While we have not had any safe-guarding, health and safety issue to date, we have adopted a preventative approach. As these courses proved to be of great interesl. We hope to these courses for interested parents in the future. Again for the year 2023 the TEDC has entrusted our organisation with running the Tamil end of year annual graded exams in Listening, Speakin& Reading and Writing in our region. These 11 exams have been run on two separate days each year in May and June hosting up to 600 students. Again we received a lot of praise by TEDC for our level of organisation, but most importantly, the dedication of our parents to support such big events involving registratio crowd and vehicle control exam furniture layout, refreshments and clearing up. HMP is always appreciative of the physical support that parents provide; this helps to keep our costs in providing Ihe benefits to the community as low as possible. A continued silent but fervent partner through all our efforts is the Featherstone High School, which has been a pillar of strength by agreeing promptly to all our requests and working with us with patience and diligence. We are very fortunate to have such a supportive management team led by Taylor Panesar in Finance and the FHS Caretakers. It is important that we understand how lucky we are to have such nice facilities and the conveniences that it affords our community. During 2022-20223 academic year, as usual special event assemblies were held for Christmas, Navarathri, Thaipongal and Thamil Remembrance Day Structure, Governance and Management of HMP has not changed since registration as a charitable enterprise. It has met regularly to discuss teaching, student progress, health and safety, security, safeguarding and its finances during the course of the year. Yours sincerely Signed by Mrs Thangeswary Gengadharan for and on-behalf of the Trustees of Muththamil Palli i •g.JkcLrn 110,01,2DIUp
