## **Achievements and challenges**

During the past year the activities of Hexham Community Association were seriously affected by COVID 19. However, the association was able to accomplish the following:

- Funding was provided by Berkshire Community Foundation, The Lottery and CAF to provide support for the over 50s struggling families in Hexham and Staverton Road who were seriously affected by COVID lock down.

## **Challenges**

- The Association is still functioning under a reduced budget of £10,000 from the Council

- The Association Still struggled to recruit volunteers. This has had an impact on the extent to which the programmes can be extended to many more residents.

- Bookings for use of facilities at the Community Centre has decreased considerably compared to the previous year. This has been due to complaints from the neighbours’ about

noise. This has been resolved through the intervention of the council. We now have a better customer services approach, better facilities and a very clean environment.

The trustees want to also take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers for the wonderful job they have done over the year.

## **FUTURE PLANS**

1. Extend programme to Staverton Road

2. Advertising activities of Hexham to the wider community

3. Getting residents to be more active

4. Community sports between the estates

5. Cultural shows

6. Expansion of yoga classes in collaboration with New Life Kingdom International Ministries charities

7. Wellbeing project for over 50s in collaboration with New Life Kingdom International Ministries charity

8. Re- establishment of Skills and Fitness project for 8-13 years
