## **One to One AGM** ## **Annual Report 20[th] January 2026 6pm at One to One’s Office** ## **Introduction** This report covers the period from the 15[th] January 2025 to the 20th January 2026. It’s encouraging that we are now seeing more applications for befrienders, 2 weeks into the new year we have 2 new befrienders; we need 3 by the end of the first year. Recruitment of befrienders will continue to be our priority in the coming months. ## 2. **Funding and finance** 2.1 Durham County Council’s cap on hourly rates paid to care providers is still in place and has been increased to £18.10 per hour. DCC have accepted our continued membership on their Panel of Approved Providers, this is done annually for us to continue to receive social worker referrals from them. DCC’s Azuras email system is now being used as it’s more secure and we have adapted very well. 2.2 Lottery funding was not anticipated for a third year as we had already been supported twice. However, we were successful with a 3[rd] application and we are going into 2026 with a grant of £152,325 over 3 years. While awaiting their decision to award us this grant we applied to 97 Durham County Councillors for a contribution from their Community Chest (each councillor has £20.000), we received 1 negative reply! DCC’s learning disability forum and social services were contacted for a small contribution in bridging funding that would act as a safety net between the end of our last funding and any continuation funding. The need for finance in the period between funding regimes has highlighted the need to keep a watchful eye on our reserves, healthy reserves will give us flexibility while awaiting funders responses as some take while in their decision making. 2.3 One to One’s finance officer retired in 2025, we were very fortunate to recruit a new officer with extensive experience of Sage Accounting and payroll systems. ## **3. Befrienders/Service users** 3.1 We currently have 3 trustees; 2 retired due to ill health so we are in the process of looking for new trustees. We employ 9 befrienders and 3 office staff and carry out an average of 370 hours of befriending per month.
