Minutes of the Annual General Meeting 10[th] March 2022 (via Zoom)
Present: Diane Smillie (Chair), Miriam Baird, Rebecca Dobson, Hilary Widdall (Treasurer), Fran Frankland, Sally Nelhams (Charity Organiser) plus?????
1. Welcome, introductions and apologies for absence
Apologies were received from Marilyn Thompson, Jill Butterworth, Mike Conefrey and Sean Harvey.
Diane welcomed everyone to the meeting.
2. Status of the Charity, what has happened since the last meeting and what is planned
Report attached.
3. Financial position
Hilary reported that the expenditure was identical to the previous year, but income was around half. We needed to apply for funding if we were going to continue. There was £4.500 in the bank.
4. Appointment of Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Trustees for 22/23
Hilary had moved to Scotland and resigned as Treasurer; she was happy to remain a Trustee. Diane Smillie also wished to step down as Chair and we have not had a secretary for some time.
It was critical that these positions were filled. Fran suggested that the Treasurer position might be able to be shared with another charity. Miriam agreed to ask around and Sally would repost the vacant positions on the CVS website. Fran would see if we could include information in the Parish Council newsletters.
5. Minutes of last AGM meeting held on 18.11.20
These were agreed. Proposed Miriam Baird, seconded Hilary Widdall.
6. Update from the Charity Organiser
Sally updated the meeting about her activities – report attached.
7. Update from Miriam Baird re the Dementia Friends training
South Lakes Dementia Community - Registered Charity Number 1174741
Miriam had continued to run training sessions, both online and in-person. Some were open sessions so anyone could attend, and others were for organisations. 12 sessions were held last year with 97 people attending. 2,500 people had been trained in the South Lakes area. Dementia Friends ‘Champions’ were now being asked to be ‘Ambassadors’ and had to promote the Alzheimer’s Association more, so this might lead to some people dropping out. Becky suggested incorporating a Friends session at a Hub.
8. Membership
We did not have any ‘members’. A discussion took place about whether SDLComm had to have members, whether Hub organisations could be classed as members and what, if any benefit, membership brought.
9. Dates of next members meeting in July & Nov to be arranged
Trustee meeting – date to be arranged. AGM - 17[th] November - 2pm
10. Any other urgent Business
None.
