|Summary of the purposes of<br>the charity as set out in its<br>governing document|Para 1.17|St Austell U3A continues to promote the values<br>of the UK National U3A organisation.<br>These values are captured in “Learn, Laugh,<br>Live” where activities targeting education for<br>the retired community are actively<br>encouraged.|

They are accessed by the local<br>community primarily at our rented suite of<br>meeting rooms in St Austell.<br>A smaller number of groups meet at other<br>commercial premises more suited to the needs<br>of the group such as dancing, or the library for<br>one of our book groups.<br>There is a good mix of both physically active<br>interest groups such as Tai Chi and Line<br>Dancing; and groups which are easily accessible<br>to those with mobility issues. Book Clubs are<br>particularly popular, and the high numbers<br>expressing interest means that four groups are<br>now running.<br>More intellectually demanding groups such as<br>Bridge, Mah Jong and languages are successful;<br>and for the able bodied there are both short<br>walk and long walking groups.<br>Painting, singing, and ukulele groups address<br>the needs of artistically inclined members.<br>New groups are always starting up those in the<br>pipeline for later in the year include Cribbage,<br>Knitting & Crochet, and Science.<br>St Austell U3A recognises the issues faced by<br>older people who live on their own and two<br>Interest Groups have now been set up<br>specifically to address this. “Members on their<br>own.”|





|||New groups ofen get created through the<br>members’ cofee morning networking actvites<br>that take place twice a month, and through<br>presentatons by specialists in their feld which<br>have included:<br>The Work of Mercy Ships<br>Listening to the Enemy (Bletchley Park<br>outstaton in St Erth)<br>Go Beyond Charity<br>The History of Cornwall<br>Wine Group events included:<br>Wine Quiz night<br>Visit to local vineyard<br>Visits to local wine merchants<br>Summer Garden Party<br>The Theatre Group have enjoyed a variety of<br>outngs including:<br>Johnny Cowing at the Arts Centre<br>Guys and Dolls at the Keay Theatre<br>Murder Mystery on the Bodmin and Wenford<br>Railway<br>A Night with the Stars at the Keay Theatre<br>Magic of the Musicals at the Keay<br>Evita at the Arts Centre<br>Backstage tour of Hall for Cornwall<br>Christmas lunch at Lanhydrock Golf Club<br>Hairspray at Hall for Cornwall<br>Conclave at White River Cinema<br>Queen Tribute act at the Arts Centre<br>Social Events included:<br>Killerton House and Gardens (NT)<br>Train to Falmouth<br>Geevor Tin Mine tour<br>South Devon Railway and Buckfast Abbey<br>Waverley Paddle Steamer<br>Tiverton Canal, Horse-drawn Barge<br>Trevaskis Farm and Paradise Park<br>Nautcal entertainment and Shanty Band<br>Christmas Lights mystery tour<br>10 Pin Bowling<br>Beetle Drive<br>Our annual Christmas Party is always well<br>atended with a selecton of groups showcasing<br>their talents for all to enjoy.|
