They are accessed by the local<br>community primarily at our rented suite of<br>meeting rooms in St Austell.<br>A smaller number of groups meet at other<br>commercial premises more suited to the needs<br>of the group such as dancing.<br>There is a good mix of both physically active<br>interest groups such as Tai Chi and Line Dancing;<br>and groups which are easily accessible to those<br>with mobility issues. Book Clubs are particularly<br>popular, and the high numbers expressing<br>interest means that four groups are now<br>running.<br>More intellectually demanding groups such as<br>Bridge, Mah Jong and languages are successful;<br>and for the able bodied there are both short<br>walk and long walking groups.<br>Walks throughout Cornwall have included.<br>Crantock<br>Minions on Bodmin Moor<br>Mylor Bridge<br>Lostwithiel<br>Lerryn<br>Padstow<br>Fowey<br>Portscatho<br>Polly Joke<br>Par<br>Gover Valley<br>Trelissick|





|||Painting, singing, pottery, drama, and ukulele<br>groups address the needs of artistically inclined<br>members.<br>Currently, the sciences are not addressed, but<br>three new groups have been created this year, a<br>fourth is being incubated, and it is anticipated<br>that further groups will be created as potential<br>group leaders step forward.<br>St Austell U3A recognises the issues faced by<br>older people who live on their own and a new<br>Interest Group has been set up specifically to<br>address this.<br>New groups often get created through the<br>members’ coffee morning networking activities<br>that take place twice a month, and through<br>presentations by specialists in their field which<br>have included:<br>History of Charlestown<br>The Wonderful World of Herbs and Spices<br>The Work of Barnados<br>The History of China Clay in Cornwall<br>The Cornwall Wildlife Trust<br>The Work of the Friends of the Royal Cornwall<br>Hospital<br>The Treasures of Lanhydrock<br>Shelter Box<br>Wine Group events included:<br>Spanish wine with food pairing<br>Wine Quiz night<br>Visit to local vineyard<br>Visits to local wine merchants<br>Summer Garden Party<br>The Theatre Group have enjoyed a variety of<br>outings including:<br>The Devil Wears Prada<br>‘Murder Mystery’ evening at Bodmin & Wenford<br>Railway<br>“The Tempest”<br>“Twelfth Night”.<br>‘Captain Corelli’s Mandolin’ at the Minnack<br>‘The Mousetrap’ at Hall For Cornwall<br>‘Buddy Holly Story’, Theatre Royal Plymouth<br>Social Events included:<br>A walking tour of theTamar Bridge<br>River cruise on the River Exe<br>Quiz evening<br>Colwith Farm Distillery<br>Dickensian Evening in Tavistock<br>Healeys Cyder Farm<br>Christmas Extravaganza|
