by supporting existing charities that meet the charitable objective. The
board of trustees exercise their discretion when assessing fomal
applications from existing charities, ¢onsidering which applicants best
further the SLCT objectives giving the greatest public benefit and
considering the effectiveness of Ihe project.

SSLCT have Ongoing monthly meetings with the Breast Cancer charity
to help raise awareness of younger patients conducb'ng regular sdf-
examinations. We are in discussions and looking at funding a programme
on how to bring a message to future patients to avoid late detection. 10-
15 years ago, breast cancer was more commonly found in the 45 plus
age group. however nowadays, patients from the age of 30 are receiving
diagnoses and treatment. The need to raise awareness especially for
younger women is critical and early detection through self*xaminations
is the most effective way.
The planned revival of a programme named 'Fabulous & Beautrful, at the
Breast Can￿r Charity to give patients confidence with focus on hair,
beauty & exercise. We have learnt that exercise plays a key role in
patient recovery both physically and mentally.
After regular discussions w7th Teens Unite focusing upon a Respit8
Centre for T*nagers with Cancer, The planning applications for the
Respite Centre has been approved by the Council and the team has
moved in to prepare the centre ready for use. The improvement in
accommodation for Teens Unite has allowed them to move from
Broxbourne to a much more modern facilty- Workshops are planned for
the centre and (( will be an amazing space for young people to attend.
