The provision of an annual series of professional chamber concerts b. The provision of educational classes in all aspects of classical music and to organize other associated educational activities c. Collaborating with other music societies in arranging concerts and musical educational activities. March **2012** **TAR** 2 The charity has continued to develop its efforts to build up interest in and enthusiasm for chamber music in the local area. We have done so by planning and running evening concerts which have been advertised locally and nationally and through articles in the local press. In addition we resumed our work in producing “coffee concerts” which take place in daylight outside the usual programme timings. In 2024 the first of the new series took place on a summer Sunday and was well received. We have applied for a grant to enable us to offer seats at much reduced ticket prices to encourage participation from both younger audience members and older patrons who can bring in younger music aficionados. March **2012** **TAR** 3 Section D Achievements and performance I ## **Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** We have organised and run a well-received programme of evening concerts performed by award-winning artists of all types, ranging from mature quartets and quintets to smaller ensembles. Several of these sold out despite a modest price increase to meet inflation. In addition we trialed a revived “coffee concert” to form the foundation for a future series in 2025 The volunteer group (8 people) has now matured with the replacement of new members following last year’s loss due to the retirement and relocation of previous long term members and make up the committee. There is now a provision for the newer people to build their skills in readiness for the inevitable replacement of members nearing retirement. Arranging the identification and booking of artists for the regular programme remains a vital activity and has been added to by the prospective need to find and recruit appropriate artists for the Coffee Concerts in 2025 (if we are successful in getting the funds needed to introduce younger audiences). If this move (see above) turns out to be a reality we anticipate a need to find more volunteers to take on the responsibilities for setting up the concert venue, dealing with ticket checking and provision of refreshments etc. The Music Appreciation course has been enhanced by the direct involvement in presentation of course members with special knowledge.
