To advance, improve and maintain public education in and appreciation of the arts, in particular the art of music, in Bollington and the surrounding areas by: a. The provision of an annual series of professional chamber concerts b. The provision of educational classes in all aspects of classical music and to organize other associated educational activities
c. Collaborating with other music societies in arranging concerts and musical educational activities.

**Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)**
Pandemic guidance was followed to the letter. A temporary programme of events was planned and modified as experience of streaming was gained. When the hoped-for relaxation of the pandemic rules on the presence of audiences was postponed as the second wave occurred additional activity to rearrange cancelled concerts had to be undertaken. Successful streaming of three trial concerts was carried out with fair payment to the musicians involved and a performance including the work of a well known poet was added. We maintained the support of the local audiences through good communication with them and enhanced our reputation for dealing with musicians fairly. The Music Appreciation courses were restarted and continued successfully after redesign to allow meetings to take place through the Zoom facility.
The Trustees have taken full regard of the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit.

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on our concert activities after March 2020 was considerable and changed the work load of volunteers. There are now 8 volunteers, all committee members, and they continue to be assisted by others as required. The responsibilities for designing the annual programme of concerts, booking performers and the venue and making all the arrangements involved in staging concerts were unchanged but suspended for a time. Concerts planned for the end of the 2019/2020 season had already been cancelled and the consequences were dealt with by the volunteer team. Plans then had to be made for dealing with the Covid rules and guidance put in place by the government, especially the rules applying to the presence of audiences and to the numbers of musicians allowed at any one time. It was rapidly decided to experiment with live streaming as a way of maintaining the provision of some musical events even when audiences were not allowed. One of the volunteers with special knowledge took charge of setting up and trialling live performances in the Arts Centre, assisted by others when needed. Once trials had proved successful, volunteers applied pandemic rules on hygiene within the Arts Centre before and after events. They were then occupied with revising bookings in line with what had become possible. All volunteer meetings were carried out remotely using the Zoom facility. In addition to these tasks, the committee give considerable time to necessary administration activities of a financial and communicative nature.

## Section D Achievements and performance
I
Overall the group continued to meet its objective of maintaining and **Summary of the main** developing interest in classical chamber music in the local area. In **achievements of the charity during the year** addition a new cultural element was added by the inclusion of a performance by a local poet. We also enhanced our standing in attracting and dealing fairly with musicians at a time when they had to suffer cancellations of their playing opportunities and consequent loss of income. Similarly the provision of performance opportunities to two duos of advanced students from the RNCM contributed to the development of up and coming performers. Interest in music education was also developed by the changes made in the Music Appreciation course and the determination to maintain its availability. The introduction of live and recorded streaming of performances was completely new and provided a basis for future innovation by the team.
