The ministers are supwrted with the thy to day running of the ¢ir¢uit by the Circuit Leadership Team {CLT) which is made up of the circuit stewards and circuit ministers. The CLT reports to the circuit meeting which is the governing I￿Y of the circuiL The Methodist Church provides a T￿8¢ of guidance documents to a￿lst circuits and local churches to manage any risks that may arisc including, the care and maintenance of property and safeguarding of youn8 p¢ople

and vulnerable adults. These risks are considered by the circuit meeting or Iwal church councils as appropriate. The circuit has adopted a safeguarding policy and the Circuit Safeguarding Officer supports local churches in adopting their own individual s8fegu#rding policies and offers safe8￿dIn8 trainin8. The Charity Commission leafiet 'The Role of the Trwstee, is avallable to all circuit trustees which outlines the responsibility of a trustee. OWEcfIvES AND ACTIVITIES The purposes of the Methodist Church are and shall be deemed to have been since the Lked of Union 1932, the advancement of: l. Th¢ circuit encourages churches to engage in e¢umeni¢al relationships with other Christian denominations in their local area to enable the sharing of resouwes and to strengthen the growth of the Christian faith in each arc& Ministers are instrumental in ¢￿tIng good relationships wilh fellow ¢l¢r8y. In all activities the trusttts have regard to the Charity Commission's guidthce on public benefit. ACIEVEMENfs AND PERFORMANCE The Driffield-Hornsca Methodist Circuit olT¢rs varied opwjrtunities for faith and worship development in the thirteen churches within the circuit. in¢ludin8 IKTrth village and town churches. The circuil aims to serve the local communities through the chuwhes by providing fellowship. not only in the weekly servi¢e& but also in the forni of mid-week spiritual ￿tIvItie￿ social activitie& coffee momings, lunches whi¢h bring people together for friendship and supw)rt. Everylx)dy is welcomc to participate in the church activities. The churches are assisted by the circuit rninisler& a I￿} pstor and local preachers. All the churches in ihe Circuit continue to provide A Christian presence in their individual locations. a testsment to ihe positive impact the Churches have in their local communities. Most Churches ar¢ offering weekly services and other eventy e.8 bible studies, coffee mornings and lunches. The ministers continue to support the church communities with the additional SUp￿rt of tk IxKal Lay Pastor. The Circuit has been fortunate in obtaining grant funding to cnable a full lime Pastor to be employ￿. During this financial year the C]￿Ult has SUPPM)rted individ4th1 chuwhes within the Circuit as follows: . l. Employed a p￿Sbyter minisr and a dixonal minisr to assist chur¢hes with the rninisty in their churches and Communities. 2. Supported ¢hurches as they continue to develop and gmw the mission in their local a￿. 3. Following the mA&8ion planning initiative. the Circuit applied for grants and have raised fimd5 to provide for 8 Local Pastor who is now employed lo work alongside the ministers specifically in four of th¢ rural churches. 4. The Circuit Safeguarding Officer offers advice and training to I(￿al churches and assists churches to ensure they comply with cutrent safegwding r¢gulations and SUPPK)rts chujrhes to deal with any incidents that may arise. 5. The Circuit employs an administsator to 8SSiSt the ministers and churclKs with d&y-to4ay ' administration.

The Circuit use5 fun¢ls from the sale of assets lo supp)rt mission and pmpety projects within the Circuit As a Circuit we seek to make the best we of the resources of lay and ordained personnel. buildings and finance. There are challenges facing some of ihe smaller congregalions with the on-going ¢osts of maintaining buildings and falling membership. but the circuit is committed to supporting all churches through thcsc chall¢nging times. FINANCIAL REVIEW Thc CiTCUit acCO￿ts in¢lude:. a) The General Fun& the main operating accounts th[r￿gh which the ¢xp¢nditure and ￿VenUe for both operational and strategic purposes is handled. b) The Circuit Model Tn￿ Fun& which is primarily fimded through sale of redundant buildings no longer required within the circuit. This is felt to be prudent should any unforcsccn Cxpcnditsre arise requiring immediate payment and to COV￿ short ierni eX￿idIn￿e in the event of an inability to r8iK the full CiTCUit &8sessment from churches. It is ncccssary to ensure the￿ are sufficient funds to cover thc ph￿nent of ipends and expenses for ministers and lay WOTker5 and to pay the circuit contribution to the District. Unreslricted funits in excess of the 6 rn(￿th reserve are available to support church Missio￿ buildiog PToje¢ts and generni financial suP￿rt to chuTcbc$ within the circuiL subject to circuit meeting approval.
