Constitutlon, objects and pollcies A new Charitable Incorporated Organisation was formed and registered with the Charity Commission on 11 September 2017. This report and accounts are from October 2024 to September 2025. During this current year the church changed the name of the charity to Cornerstone Church Weymouth. The objectives of Cornerstone Church, Weymouth are to advance the Christian faith for the benefrt of the public, serve the needs of the locality, to serve the people of Weymouth and the surrounding areas in Dorset as particular needs arise; and to support missionary work locally, in the UK and abroad" sending money for the relief of poverty and through education and economic development. Committee and Management Day to day management of the charity is in the hands of the Leadership Team. That is Colin Beswick, Lelrner Campos. David Peach and William Randall. The leadership team meets once a month. The Board of Trustees meet three times a year and includes Nick Barrow. Louise Bell, Lelmer Campos, Wendy Erskine., Rebekah Kalyaayny, David Peach, Gordon Peach. Sharon Reed and Tim Young. Finance is managed by the board of trustees, Recrultment The church constitution sets out the procedure for the number and appointment of charity trustees. It also explains the functions, duties, and eligibility of being a trustee in line with The Charity Commission's Standards. Any enquiries concerning becoming a trustee or those actively recruited by trustees will be sent information from the Charity Commission and Cornerstone Church. This will include the church's constitution, the latest completed end-o*- year accounts, and the role of a trustee. The application of potential trustees will be prayerfully considered based on their skills. and contribution to the trustee team. Checks relating to the Charity Commission requirements, identification and evidence that the person is fit for the rose, such as a current DBS (where applicable to their role). a signed conflict of interest form and identification will be obtained. Investment Powers The Constitution authorises the committee to use all money raised to further its objects and for no other purpose. Publlc benefit The trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in Section 4 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit. We are active in our local community seeking to help our neighbours through friendship and social action. We provide activities for all ages and for all social groups. To this end each week we run a Coffee Morning., and Wednesday evening meeting for weekly prayer, Bible study or 'Missionary focus,. There is a weekly parent and toddler group and also a youth group. We provide an office and support for the local CAP centre manager. The church supports mission work in the UK both prayerfully and financial, giving to Missionary Aviation Fellowship, Good News for Everyone, SASRA, The Open Air Mission and others. Development. activities and achAevements Cornerstone Church. Weymouth is a small. Dorset based, charity holding a weekly church service and, during term time a mid-week meeting, a weekly meeting for toddlers and their carers and a weekly meeting for children, young people and their families. There is also a monthly lunch at the church open to all. After over one hundred and twenty years, and now with a new name. the church needed to progress the refurbishment project that began last year. Part of this refurbishment included new signage with the new name 'Cornerstone' displayed above the porch at the front of the church. There has also been completed urgent repairs to the roof and electrical work; redecorating offices and back rooms. a new porch with new flooring., as well as new flooring to most areas of the church. 'This has significantly improved the church's appearance and facilities., Locally. the church also supports community work in the broader community in Weymouth and Portland through CAP, working with other local churches through 'Refresh'. The church support Missionary Aviation Fellowship, Good News for Everyone, SASRA and The Open Air Mission. Charlties that are based in the UK and work abroad such as Myra's Wells and Project Mozambique are supported. Myra's Wells work in North Africa to install wells for fresh water in villages wher6 this is lacking. Flnanclal Revlew The charity generated income in the year of £42,269 to 30 Sept 25 (2024 £47,368) and incurred expenditure of £68,184 (2024 £48,341) Reserves pollcy The Trustees aim to maintain free reserves of £30,000 held in the current and deposit account equivalent to a year of average giving to the general fund and including £10,000 to cover any possible urgent building repairs. These funds are to ensure that the Church activities can continue as planned in th8 case of unforeseen circumstances or a sudden reduction in regular giving. The level of reserves is reported to the leadership team monthly to ensure that spending decisions are made in accordance with this policy. The policy is reviewed annually.
