Constitution. objects and policies
A new Charitable Incorporated Organisation was formed and registered with the Charity
Commission on 11 September 2017. This report and accounls are from October 2023 to
September 2024. During this cu￿ent year the church changed the name of the charity to
Cornerstone Church Weymouth. The objectives of Comerstone Church, Weymouth are to
advance the Christian faith for the benefit of the public, serve the needs of the locality, to serve
the people of Weymouth and the surrounding areas in Dorset as particular needs arise,. and
to support missionary work locally, in the UK and abroad; sending money for the relief of
poverty and through education and economic development.
Committee and Management
Day to day management of the charity is in the hands of the Leadership Team. That is Colin
Beswick. Lelmer Campos, David Peach and William Randall. The leadership team meets once
a month.
The Board of Trustees meets twice a year and includes Nick Ba￿ow, Lelmer Campos, Wendy
Erskine. David Peach, Gordon Peach, Sharon Reed and Tim Young.
Finance is managed by the Finance Group who report to the trustees. The Finance Group
members are Colin Beswick, Wendy Erskine and Tim Young.
Investment Powers
The Constitution authorises the committee to use all money raised to further its objects and
for no other purpose.
Public benefit
The trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in Section 4 of the Charities Act
2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit.
We are active in our local community seeking to help our neighbours through friendship and
social action. We provide activities for all ages and for all social groups. To this end each week
we run a Coffee Morning", and Wednesday evening meeting for weekty prayer, Bible study or
'Missionary focus,. There is a week]y parent and toddler group and also a youth group.
We provide an office and support for the local CAP ￿￿tre manager. The church supports
mission work in the UK and around th8 workl, both prayerfully and financial, giving to. for
example London City Mission, Missionary Aviation Fellowship, The Open Air Mission, Project
Mozambique and others.
Risk management
The Trustees hav8 examined the major strategic operational risks which the charity faces
and confirm thal systems have been established to highlight and lessen these risks.

Developmen¢ activities and achievements
Comerstone Church, Weymouth is a small. Dorsel based. charity holding a weekly church
service and, during temi time a mid-week meeting, a weekly meeting for toddlers and their
carers and a weekly meeting for children, young people and their families. There is also a
monthly lunch at the church open to all
Locally. the church also supports communitywork in the broader community in Weymouth and
Portland through CAP, working with other local churches through 'Refresh'. The church
support Bible Education Services, Good News for Everyone, Project Mozambique, The
Christian Inslilute and other organisalions each year encouraging visitors from groups that the
church supports. Social work is supported through organisations such as Missionary Aviation
Fellowship and Myra's Wells. Myra's Wells work in Noth AfrieA to install wells for fresh water
in villages where this is lacking.
Financial Revlew
The charity generated incorne in the year of £47.368 to 30 Sept 24 (2023 £32,235) and
incurred expenditure of £48,341 (2023 £42,988)
Reserves policy
The Trustees aim to maintain free reserves of £30,000 held in the current and deposit account
equivalent to a year of average giving to the general fund and including £10,000 to cover any
possible urgent building repairs. These funds are to ensure that the Church activities can
continue as planned in the case of unforeseen Circumstan￿ or a sudden reduction in regular
giving. The level of reserves is reported to the leadership tearn monthly to ensure that
spending decisions are made in accordance with this policy. The policy is reviewed annually.
Reserves currently held in excess of this are invested to provide income from the interest.

| report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 30 September 2024. 

## Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner 

As the charity’s trustees of Cornerstone Church Weymouth, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’). 

{ report in respect of my examination of the Cornerstone Church Weymouth’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination | have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

## Independent examiner’s statement 

| have completed my examination. | confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of Cornerstone Church Weymouth as required by section 130 of the Act; or 

2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or 

3. the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair view' which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
