Blackpool Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Open Access Group
Annual Report and Accounts 2023
In 2023 the Open Access Group has continued to support young people in their DofE journey.
The Open Access Group worked with 18 young people last year. Eight achieved their Awards; 3 Bronze level, 5 Silver.
The year began with a visit from Prince Edward, who visited Blackpool and requested a meeting with young people who are doing their Award with community and voluntary organisations. The Prince met four young people from the OAG, who spoke to him about their activities.
This year saw Blackpool Council’s Children’s Services directly referring five young people over the year.
We have delivered a range of activities:
10 x hill and mountain walks
- 1 Bronze expedition in the Forest of Bowland
1 Silver practice expedition in Forest of Bowland

1 Silver practice expedition in the Yorkshire dales

1 Silver qualifier expedition in the Lake District
A series of campcraft, navigation and team-building sessions at the Stanley Park boathouse.
Places visited included Clougha Pike, Ingleborough, Dunnerdale, Malham, Forest of Bowland and local walks around Blackpool.
