Blackpool Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Open Access Group
Annual Report and Accounts 2020
In 2020, despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, the Open Access Group has continued to support young people in their DofE journey.
The Open Access Group worked with 32 young people last year: 16 at Bronze level, 6 at Silver and 10 at Gold. Although no expeditions could take place, we have delivered a range of support including online digital skills, expedition planning online, outdoor activities and training days following government Covid guidance. All our young people have been actively pursuing their other sections so that they’ll be able to complete their Awards as soon as we’re able to run expeditions.
In 2020 our programme included:
12 x hill and mountain walks
6 x canoe/kayaking sessions
8 x indoor climbing sessions
Places visited included Pendle Hill, Clougha Pike, Ingleborough, Lake Windermere, Fairhaven Lake, Nicky Nook, West Pennine Moors and local walks around Blackpool.
We are currently meeting our young people regularly online, planning expeditions from April – August 2021.
